If you can make it through the first week, then you can make it through them all. That had been something her mother had told her on her first day of school. As in, ever. But, the advice hopefully would carry over in this new place she found herself a resident of. It was her second day in, the first having included a heavy dose of mind-blowing and a tour. Metas. It was still a strange concept for her even if she'd heard about them before. Well, heard as in caught a conversation in passing. And even then, she hadn't been paying much attention. But now, it seemed that she had little to no choice.
Danni wasn't sure on how she felt about all of this. Disbelief? Maybe some. Detachment? Slightly. She didn't really feel very different than she had before. Kind of like how she hadn't felt the transition from fourteen to fifteen. Maybe it took a little time for the feeling of change to settle in? There were things that came to full notice of course. Like the arrangement of her new room for one. She had no choice but to be fully aware of it as she spent what time that wasn't taken for travel, listening to introductions and touring, to try to arrange her room in a way that wouldn't drive her completely insane. It had been clean though, so there was the upside. Still, it would take time for her to get certain patterns in order. Get things set up just the way they should be. Luckily, the bed faced the way her old bed had at home, and the window placement was in the same spot as well. The fact that the room wasn't on the right floor could be overlooked.
But, she wasn't worrying about her room right now. She had it set up to the best of her ability and now was out of it and wandering. Sure, during her wandering she had gotten a bit lost, but that was kind of expected and she didn't worry about it too much seeing how she would either find her way back eventually or have help getting back to her room by asking someone for directions. She was glad that she wasn't obsessed with knowing where she was at all times. That was a pretty big dash of luck. Though she wasn't totally lost either, seeing how she would have really have to have been out of it to not realize that she was at least on the ground level of the building.
She was just rounding the corner of the hallway she was in when she felt a stirring in her shirt.
"Hey, calm down in there. I don't want to get detention or something on my second day here." She said to the suddenly restless mouse.
"I know this place probably smells different to you but you're gonna have to wait until we get back to the room." She added as she continued to walk.
Of course, Simon didn't choose to listen as he was getting free of her shirt and scurrying down the front of it before making a daring leap from her belt-line and onto the floor.
"Damn it Simon!" She blurted out in a hushed shout.
She then went to trying to scoop him up only for him to decide to scamper up the side of the pants of a stranger. How awkward. He must have smelled something he liked. It was near feeding time for him.
"Do you mind?" She asked the person, obviously asking if it was alright if she plucked the mischievous mouse off of their person.
