It Can Only Get Better From Here (Monroe)

Chris didn't normally go to diner's after midnight. But tonight wasn't just any night either.
Tonight had been a spectacularly bad night. A co-worker had set her up on a blind date. She had been reluctant at best and with good reason it seemed. It had been a disaster. He had picked her up and taken her to a fancy restaurant for a late dinner and proceeded to bore her to death while downing nearly an entire bottle of wine himself. The idiot had tried to drive but she managed to convince him that she would, so she had driven him home. Of course then things had taken an even worse turn since he somehow interpreted her desire to not die in a car wreck to mean that she wanted to sleep with him. As if that was even a consideration. Of course, she was fairly certain he had gotten the point once she kneed him where it hurt most.
So she had stormed off. Given that she'd driven his car here though, that left her stranded and it took a cab nearly an hour to find her. At that point she was already frustrated and once she got back to the apartment she found herself getting right back into her car and just driving. She didn't really have a destination in mind, but she did not want to go in and explain how badly it had gone.
Her aimless driving had landed her here, outside Bessie's Diner, the only place that was even open at this point.
Luckily she was already feeling better by the time she walked in. At this point she just wanted a burger and fries - she was starving. Dinner had been those tiny gourmet servings where it looked good and barely should count as an appetizer.
There didn't seem to be any other customers here, but the jukebox in the corner helped the place not seem quite so empty.
Honestly at this point, Chris would just be happy for some real food.
