Kasey Lukaczynski was finally going to graduate. Well, she had graduated once, but when she realized she was in no shape for the job market just yet, she decided to pursue a master’s degree. And in a couple of months she’d be required to be a full-time adult instead of a part-time student. There was still plenty more to do before then, however, including a huge project for her Marketing Research class. She had over two months to complete it, but knew she should have probably started in February. Instead, it was the middle of March and she was just getting to the first step – researching and interviewing the owner of a local small business. When that was completed she was supposed to develop a marketing development plan for the business and needed to present it to a panel of professors toward the end of the semester.
Choosing the business was a little tough for Kasey. She didn’t want to pick a business she frequented as it would be a conflict of interest and her opinions of the business would be biased. She also needed to be sure that the business was handicap accessible and she wanted to chose something she was genuinely interested in. It would be easy to roll down to the laundromat and interview the little Chinese woman behind the counter, but no part of Kasey wanted to develop a plan based around cost effective detergent and washing machine repairs. This is what brought Kasey to Mountain View Petting Zoo. What was better than a business built around cute petable animals?
When Kasey pulled herself out of her car and popped open her wheelchair, her first impression of the zoo was nice. It was quaint and somewhat quiet – which Kasey attributed to the time of year. It was still pretty brisk out and it was unlikely that many mothers would want their young children out in this weather just yet. The blonde rolled up to the gate where sheep and goats were waiting with hungry eyes – clearly expecting the blonde to purchase some of the feed and offer it to them. Maybe on her way out. Right now she had to find the owner. There was a man tending to the animals across the way. Kasey called over. “Excuse me!” she waved her hand to bring attention to herself, as her face was barely visible over the tallest rung of the fence. “Hi… I’m looking for Mr…. Nolan Cooper?” Kasey asked, looking down at the notebook she’d brought along to remember the owner’s name.
