Those Four Words (Eloise)

The last day of school had been that day, at least for the next week, and as it so happened, Eloise had claimed her. Really, Adaryn had offered to go to the craft store with Eloise so she could pick up some things for her Etsy shop and Adaryn had considered getting some pencils and another sketchbook or two just to treat herself to something nice. After all, her birthday was fast approaching, and she would be 18.

It was insane.

So as she walked beside the blonde, wearing a simplistic outfit that Adaryn had picked out with Eloise not too long ago - a jean jacket with a plaid and white undershirt and black jeans. It wasn't something Adaryn could have picked out herself, but she liked the way it looked on her. Surprisingly.

But as she stepped beside the girl, who at this point she could readily call one of her best friends, Adaryn peeked over her shoulder as best she could. "So what are you getting today?"

Eloise wasn't used to having company on her little craft store excursions, but when Adaryn offered to tag along today, the blonde was somewhat excited to have someone to run her ideas by. Addie had certainly provided an interesting prospective on some of El's projects in the past (even if she didn't realize it). Plus, by dragging Addie along, Eloise planned on getting some ideas of what to make her friend for her birthday. She hoped Addie would point out a fabric she liked, or make some comment about needing a jacket or something similar...

She was wearing straight leg jeans, a green tank top, and a white blazer-like jacket. Her hair was up in a classic Eloise-high-ponytail, and her shoes matched the tanktop almost too well. As the pair stepped into the craft store, Eloise pushed her over sized white framed sunglasses onto the top of her head, and grabbed a shopping basket. "Today I'm just looking for new fabrics, really. With spring coming up I want to start offering more spring-inspired looks and patters and stuff," Eloise explained, knowing Addie would understand to some extent what she meant. Cold blues and grey were going out the door for yellows and pinks and nautical and floral inspired pieces.

"I'm also considering trying swimsuits for the first time," El noted, pursing her lips as they passed the spandex fabrics, mentally reminding herself to make her way back to that rack. The blonde looked over at her friend who had fallen in step with her. "You have any plans to get anything today?" she asked. Eloise always felt bad when she brought Addie to a store and the brunette didn't get anything - it made the blonde feel like she had drug Addie along for nothing. In those cases El would often secretly buy a top or a notebook that she had notice Adaryn studying in the store and give it to her when they got back home.

Crafts may not have been her specified choice in artistic fascination, but it was art in all means, and a craft store brought her a comfort that couldn't be achieved in any other store. There was always a sense of being watched, being judged for whatever reason, but within the confines of a craft store, she was in her element, and if the blonde taught her anything throughout the nearly year and a half she had known her, it was to be confident with what you worked so hard on. A picture. A dress. A jacket. Whatever it may be.

"You'd think it was still winter with this snow. Swimsuits aren't even a thought yet," Adaryn hummed. She couldn't grasp the fact that it was spring yet considering the contradictory weather, but it wasn't something she would complain about. It gave her a reason to cover her arms, at least. But for other people around the world, it was spring and the weather could seem like it.

However, there was a question posed to her, one she couldn't definitely answer in that moment. "I don't know. Maybe," It was still up in the air. If something caught her eye, there was definitely a chance she would since she had a decent amount of 'spending' money at this point. Her phone bill was paid and she didn't have to worry about anything else except for food money, and so she could afford it. The first time in her life, really. "I'm not really looking."

Eloise had learned to like the little craft stores in Pilot Ridge. Sure, they didn't always have the best or biggest selections like the fabric stores in New York City or Paris, but they did the job when the blonde needed something to work with TODAY and therefore couldn't buy online. Plus, she had struck a deal with the store management to order some fabric if the manufacturers only let retailers purchase, despite the fact that the blonde was willing to buy in bulk.

Eloise laughed when Addie noted it still seemed like winter, which it certainly did. But in the fashion world, swimsuits had been out since January along with resort wear and flip flops. It wasn't going to be long before fall fashions started rolling out on the runway. That didn't make it any less strange that Eloise was going to start working on swimsuits when a foot of snow still sat on the ground. "Yeah, but everyone already has their winter coats so I have to look to my future market," Eloise noted, referring to her etsy customers.

"At least pick out a couple fabrics you like... I still want to make some headbands or bows or scarves for you to spice up your starbucks garb," Eloise requested. It was something she'd suggested doing a couple times before, but now that she and Addie were finally at a store together it seemed like good timing to bring it back up. And it wasn't like the small bits of fabric Eloise would need for such accessories would cost much. "Every moment is an opportunity to look good. Even in an ugly green apron."

Pilot Ridge had been a serene, overall quiet town and it was something Adaryn loved about it all. There was no constant thrum of cars down the road at night, or honking of a big city during the day. She didn't have many people to run into, and if she did, they were usually people she didn't mind seeing. There hadn't been a big enemy made during her several years of living here, and the people she did want to avoid were usually off in other places trying to avoid her as hard as she was trying to avoid them.

To be quite honest, there were few thoughts about her family during the past few months which was a shocking revelation to Adaryn. The Empath had always been so caught up in the fact that her parents were not, and did not want to be, there for her. Even still, there was part of her that wished to see them and wished to feel the warmth they once offered her, and even though Monroe and Eloise and AJ and Oliver were there to sort of soften the brunt of the blow, part of her felt like there was still something missing.

"If you're market is just in Vermont, I'd say go for exclusively summer looks. I have a feeling there wont be a spring this year," The brunette's lips curled into a small smile, widening considerably when the blonde poked fun of her uniform for work. Sure it wasn't the most glamorous, but it was comfortable. Somewhat. For right now she was able to wear turtlenecks and sleeves, but come summer, that won't be the case. Maybe Eloise making some things may make the transitions easier.

"Me and fashion aren't the most compatible, so don't be surprised if I choose something ugly or weird looking," Adaryn, in her own way, agreed to the request. "And don't say I didn't warn you if you don't like what I pick."

"Ugly can be chic," Eloise noted with a shrug when Addie warned about what she may pick. And while Eloise only half meant it, she was sure even an accesory made out of the ugliest fabric would spice up her friend's work uniform. She was happy to do so as well. Eloise was very happy to see Addie slowly coming out of her shell, and while El was pretty sure Monroe had more to do with it, she would gladly take some of the credit it anyone ever asked.

"Just nothing orange. I don't want you to clash," Eloise warned before turning off into a isle with pallets of fabric stacked high on shelves.

Just like Adaryn, Eloise was having thoughts about her family recently, though they differed slightly. After finding out Monroe was her brother, her twin at that, Eloise felt like her entire upbringing was somewhat of a lie. Like her family life up to this point was fake. She was mad at her dad, and she was uncomfortable with the concept of trying to talk to her mom. However, the blonde was content with the little family she'd found in Monroe and Adaryn. Sure they weren't blood but El liked to think Addie was at least what she could have expected a relationship with a cousin to be...

Eloise pulled a floral patterned silk from the wall and threw the end over her shoulder. She muttered something to herself about a pashmina before tucking the pallet away.
