Things were finally coming together for Karalie. She adored Carter, and she got the impression the feeling was mutual. She'd moved on finally, which meant that it was time to face her past. She didn't need to care about what Lucas had done to her because she was over it. Over him. So to celebrate this new found discovery she grabbed the book which had been buried at the very bottom of her closet for months (with a towel, of course) and shoved it into a bag. No need to hold onto her ex's stupid old things. He could have his book back. Finally.
Karalie tried not to think about the task at hand, instead trying to focus on the good things going on in her life. There were plenty of them, really. Not just Carter, though that was a huge part of her happiness. She'd been accepted into all the universities she had applied for, though in the end the choice had been made for her. Vermont would be her home for at least another year. Perhaps if she had better control after next year she would move on, but if things stayed as they were Carter perhaps she would finish her time there anyway. No sense moving away from him when things were going well. She was even getting along better with her parents these days.
The closer she marched to Luke's dorm, the more anxious she began to feel. Why would she bothered about seeing him? She was in a better place now than she had been the last time they'd met up. She also knew what a jerk he'd been. But he'd been her first love. It was something you never forgot, and though she had successfully persuaded herself that she was fine to see him, as she frew closer to his door she knew she wasn't. Not really. But she was almost there and she needed to get rid of the blasted book, so she would continue on. It would be quick. Give him the book and go. Then she could forget about him forever. It was that simple.
Taking a deep breath she pulled her hand up and knocked on the door. Maybe she'd get lucky and one of his roommates would answer and she could just give it to them instead. Maybe she wouldn't have to see his smug little face after all.
