Ordinary Guitar Lessons (Onya.)

Cam had been back in town since the beginning of April, and he hadn't gotten into trouble yet. It was weird, not having classes to preoccupy his mind, but it was also nice. He felt like he was forgetting to do something nearly every day, but he supposed it was just something to get used to. He was on the hunt for a summer job and hadn't been able to find anything yet. It wasn't a huge deal, he had a full ride scholarship for how ever long it would take for him to graduate from law school, but Cam wasn't one to sit still. Plus some extra spending money never hurt anyone.

As it was, Mia had graciously agreed to let him stay with her for the summer. It was a good opportunity to rekindle their friendship, and spend time with someone who understood him and was good on a guitar. It was actually Mia who gave him the idea of offering guitar lessons around town to rake in some extra dough. So he put up very attractive signs all over town and waited for someone to call him. But people would probably text him instead, calling didn't really happen anymore.

So when he did receive a text from a girl at the local meta high school, he asked her if she wanted to meet somewhere downtown first so they could talk about how often she wanted lessons and what her goals were. Plus, it would suck if she paid him in advance and then didn't end up wanting to work with him. He wouldn't be offended or whatever, he just wanted to be courteous.

"I'm the one with the short blond hair, and you know, the guitar." He had texted to her while he waited around in one of the local coffee shops. Hopefully things would be fun!!

Onya didn’t know what had gotten over her… She had just seen the flyer in the coffee shop the last time she had been there. It took her awhile to get the nerve to even next the guy. She was glad that he had asked to meet at a public space, because if he asked her to his place she would have said no. She wondered how happy her brothers would be if they knew she was going to do this. Well, hopefully she can get past ‘hello’. Though, knowing her older brother he probably wouldn’t be happy that it was a guy who was going to teach her…

Sighing she walked into the coffee shops that he was supposedly in. What if she was horrible? What if He was mean? What if he didn’t end up showing? She looked at the text again, it said he was here, but was he really here… She didn’t want to look. What if this guy only really wanted to rape her? That took a dark turn… And her mind knew it, but she just couldn’t help it. What if he had been in jail? Would that matter though? Maybe he was trying to get his life straightened out. Mind you that this monologue in her mind was happening in seconds. Her heart beat picked up as she looked around the room, did she have time to just leave? Wouldn’t that just hurt the guy? No she couldn’t just leave, she was already here…

Seeing the boy with the guitar, she swallowed hard and walked over toward him. “H-hello” She smiled a little at him, and gave a small wave. She was very tense, and her voice shook. She was not used to doing this… It also didn’t help that the boy was moderately cute… “I’m Onya, I… well.. I was the one that was… well texting you..” What if he knew more than one Onya? “About the guitar lessons.. I mean…” Smooth Onya…

Cameron looked up from his latte as someone approached him, the foamy milk from the drink collecting over his top lip. Whoa. The blond quickly wiped away the mortifying residue and stood up quickly. "Onya! Nice to finally meet you." Her blundering was barely noticeable by Cam, who had his hands on his hips and surveyed her, resisting the urge to immediately flirt. This wasn't a date, this was business! He laughed and shook his head, "Nope, you're the only Onya I've met so far. Have a seat!"

It was a good thing he couldn't read minds, or he might be seriously hurt that anyone would ever think him to be a rapist.

"You want a coffee or something?" He asked, looking around for a server just in case the answer was yes.

"So what are you looking for? Like, in terms of learning guitar? The more I know, the better the lessons will be for you since everyone wants something different." He looked at her and then cocked his head to the side, his legs bouncing around under the table from the caffeine (it clearly has nothing to do with his personality).

"Have you ever played guitar before?"

Onya probably would have died of embarrassment if Cameron started to flirt with her. Not many people did, well not many people talked to her period. But Onya was actually kind of okay with that. Well, more like content. Maybe she could start changing that? Maybe she could become someone people would actually want to talk to, and not just look through her like she was never there. “It’s nice to meet you too.” She gave him a slight smile, still completely nervous about this situation. “Oh okay.” She slowly sat down, still kind of wanting to just leave.

She widen her eyes a little at the offer, was he offering to buy her something? Or was he just asking to order for her but she would pay? She didn’t know how to feel about that. So to avoid the first situation she replied with a “ Oh, no I’m fine. Thank you though.”

Questions… She hated questions, because that meant she needed to answer, which meant she needed to talk. Great… She gulped a little, and looked down at her hands which were resting on her hands; Trying to avoid eye contact with Cameron. “I.. Well… I really don’t know to be completely honest… I just… I’m not outgoing at all and I thought that this might be a very small way to get out of my shell.. To put it simply…” And she always thought that playing guitar was sexy. Would he be mad at her explanation? Because it wasn’t like she was doing to for playing guitar even though she did actually want to learn. But it was mostly a spree of the moment thing that she felt would be good for her.

Onya shook her head to his next question; “No never… Though I kind of always wanted to. Just thought I wouldn’t be any good.”

Nothing seemed off about Onya at all, but then again, no one ever seemed off to Cameron. It wasn't that he was nieve, but he liked to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and give everyone a chance. Besides, the shy ones tended to be the most interesting people, even if it was just because they didn't think they were.

Cameron smiled and gave a nod. "Well you'll probably attract some attention with your guitar playing if you play in public. You know, once you're ready." He sighed and looked out the window. "Especially on nice summer days, you can really get the crowd swaying. There's a sweet spot in the park where I usually busk, you can come check me out some time." Instead of winking, he smiled softly. But still, he couldn't help but flirt, just a little!

Breaking eye contact with the server, Cam looked back to Onya. "You sure? There's really good coffee here." But really there was no pressure, she could do as she pleased.

"It's all good! You don't need a lot of experience, just the drive." He smiled and shrugged. "I mean, I taught myself, so if an idiot like me can do it, anyone can." Cam pressed his hands together, the gears in his mind turning. "Okay, so... Maybe I can show you different rifts? That's like, certain notes that sound good together. What do you think?"
