Cam paused and stared up at the bookstore, trying to ignore the continuous stares that people were giving her. It was hard to blame them though, two giant ivory and ebony wings protruding from her shoulder blades weren't exactly inconspicuous. Glancing behind her, Cam walked to the door and pushed it open; feeling more relaxed when surrounded by familiar territory.
The brunette knew exactly where she was going. Books were her comfort zone, and she needed a few more. The winged teen loved to draw, particularly fantasy and one of her roommates convinced her to head to the bookstore since they had some great tutorial books for humanoid figurers. Although this was probably just a ploy to remove Cam from the dorm, she had gotten curious and decided to check it out.
Cam stopped in front of a shelf labelled 'ART' in cursive letters. Quaint and slightly familiar. The girl picked up one of the books, a simplistic looking one with surprisingly accurate figure drawings on the cover. Cam had always used drawing and reading to avoid things; particularly social events or stressful times during her social care. Some would say she was skilled, but Cam knew that she struggled with humanoid images. Maybe because she never really focused on people that much.
One of her wings twitched half-open before closing shut again, making Cam realise that someone was staring at her. Focusing on her book, Cam felt her skin prickle under the uncomfortable feeling. She was used to it, but strong stares made her uncomfortable.
