That hopeless bit was a bit too true to be aimed at anyone else, and why would it? Luke was the one talking to Live, so it only made sense that everything she mentioned was aimed at the Texan. Was she always this blunt? If she was this would only make Lucas like her more since it seemed that was the only way to make him see things for what they were. Right now that was his only problem, he figured, and only one person other than Live had ever done that to him; someone who he was still grateful for even if she struck him as a total bitch.
''Sucked into their power..?'' He quickly asked as she mentioned it. Really, in what way did she mean it? In the sense of having things you couldn't come back from, or things that made you lose control? Or maybe just small tidbits that clung with you your entire life? Because Lucas had all three of them. Like that thing she found funny, the losing of natural abilities. It was quite embarrassing to count the times he had crawled over to the toilet. A mental note was made right then that his toilet had to be immaculate if he ever got a house of his own. And as for the losing control bit.. well she had seen that first hand.
The small tidbits though.. ''I don't ferget what I see.'' Which was a good thing at times, assuming it involved some kind of movement, but this sadly also meant he remembered all the bad stuff that had ever happened to him. He took in a breath and sighed, turning his eyes to Live. ''When someone talks ta me, I won't ever ferget. Which means-'' He paused for a second and forced a small pen-stripe of a smile.
''Which means that on th' happiest day of me life I'd still vividly remember me uncle's last words. Th' painful things me parents told me. Th' people bullying me..''
But enough of that, he decided as his shoulders were starting to drop right as she asked/yelled at him why his glass wasn't filled with water. Now if he was someone else he would have flinched and knocked over the glass or what have you, but Lucas' ability made sure that didn't happen as his face turned to the spoken words. ''Sorry ma'am.'' He joked as he got up, making a slight bow as he then grabbed his empty glass from the table and went to go and fill it with water.
''Right away, ma'am.'' He added when she asked for her purse and nodded at the black thing on the counter. As he walked back with a filled glass he picked up the bag, giving it to Live as he sat down and took a sip of his drink.
''Girl stuff?''
