The Details
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Gray
Any Piercings? Ears and left eyebrow
Any Tattoos? None
Any Scars? None
General Appearance: Lilly has strong features that stand out. Her face isn't really the most welcoming thing, and people tend to shy away from her for it. The piercing doesn't help much but she doesn't care. Her hair is long and thick, naturally curly. She sometimes will dye a streak of it different colors. She is pretty skinny and tall, but not gross looking, just a tiny person. She doesn't mind her looks. She deals with them. She use to wish she was more delicate like other girls, but she got over that pretty fast.
Personality: Lilly Anne Love. That's her name. She hates her name. Who even has the last name Love anyways? It sounds like some kind of hippy name. She hates her fist name even more, which is which she invented Live, a combination of Lilly and Love. It's also as a reminder. So she doesn't end up like her mother. That's what pretty much everyone calls her, unless they are making fun of her. Which happens often. People don't tend to like Live. She isn't the nicest person around but a lot of people like to push her buttons, 'cause they think it is funny or something.
Besides being harsh, cut off, and fairly uncaring, Live is pretty artsy. She can't draw, sing, dance, or act, but she is still creative. She has little to no money so she always shops at thrift stores. She uses this to her advantage, getting unique things and then altering them so they are a bit cooler then before. Maybe she will become a fashion designer someday, but that is unlikely.
Your Vices
Likes: Reading. Thrift stores. Music. Silence. Superheroes. Solidarity.
Dislikes: Her mom. Her dad. Her brother. Her teachers. Most people. Popularity. Bright lights.
Strengths: School. It has always been easy for her. She quickly grasps concepts and ideas. Math is a breeze, English is just a piece of cake, history is simple, and science is so easy it is boring. However, she hates knowing she is a nerd, so she usually intentionally bombs all the quizzes and test. But she is good enough at math to know what she needs to get to pass.
Taking care of herself. Her dad abandoned her family, her mom is a drunk, and her brother is a druggie so from the time she was eight she has had to make her own lunches, get herself places, even make sure the bills got paid. She knows how to deal with life.
Self defense, both mentally and physically. Despite her tiny body, she is strong. She knows how to defend herself against someone almost twice her size. When you grow up in the city, it is necessary. She also acts in such a way to keep people out, so no one can hurt her heart. She learned that after her dad left, her mom turned into an alcoholic and her brother got arrested, the third time.
Weaknesses: Being social. People don't normally talk to her, and when they do, they don't talk for long. She is kind of rude and harsh, and even those people she can half handle, she isn't one to pass out compliments.
Letting people in. After being hurt so many times by her family and the few people she thought were her friends, she has cut pretty much everyone out. She has been broken enough, is still picking up her pieces. She doesn't want anyone helping her because they might end up making her drop all the pieces of her heart again.
Being happy. This girl could win a noble prize for being unhappy no matter what. There is always some reason to be upset in her mind.
Fears: Being lost.
Secret: She would never tell a soul, but she is secretly terrified by that fact that she may never find anyone who will truly care about her. She will be stuck alone for all of her life. She will never have someone to love her. Never have anyone take care of her. She would never admit it though, not even to herself.

History
Lilly Anne Love was born to Helen and Robert Love. They were a happy family, already blessed with a three year old son. The couple had married the second Helen had turned eighteen and then less then a year later produced their son Alex. The family was happy. Helen was a devoted stay at home mom and Robert worked hard at his job as a plumber. They were a simple family but they were happy. Well, that's what everyone else thought.
What Helen kept hidden though was her depression. She never told anyone but it was slowly growing on her. Robert noticed it but that only caused friction between the couple. When Helen's parents died it sent her over the edge. She hid her feelings from her friends, her children, her family, and her husband. She found counsel in alcohol.
Lilly felt the tension in the family. She would often hear her mother crying. She would hear her parents yelling. She was to young to fully understand everything that she saw and heard around her, but she somehow knew that she was gonna lose her family. And she did. Just two weeks before her eight birthday, there was a big fight. She can't recall everything that happened but by the end of the night her father was gone, her mother was passed out in her room, and her brother was no where to be found. It was then that Lilly knew she was gonna have to take care of herself.
She lived her life as best she could. It was hard but she somehow survived. Her brother was no help either. He got involved in drugs and other problems, going in and out of jail. It was bad.
As she grew older she began to question things. She began to wonder why her mother gave up on life. Why her father never took Alex and her away from their mother. Why she had to take care of herself. Why her big brother never was there for her. Why no one was there for her. After a few years of driving herself crazy with those questions, trying to find that feeling of being taken care of in a few random relationships, she decided that in the end, all you had was yourself. All you had to live for was yourself, because at the end of the day, you were gonna have to be the one taking care of yourself. That's why she named herself Live. To remind herself not to end up like her mother, her father, her brother. To Live for herself. To take care of herself.
It was around that time, when she was thirteen that her abilities kicked in. It happened one day when she got really angry. She was alone in her room, ticked that her mother was doing nothing that drinking and her brother was in jail, when she noticed her feet weren't quite as they should be. She noticed that her blue shoes were now black. Then she noticed she was shrinking. Soon she learned exactly what she could do with shadows, how she could turn into one. She kept on the down low, but after about two weeks, some people showed up at her door. At first she thought she would have to leave her mother behind, to fend for herself, but Helen decided to come.
She started school the Hammel Institute that semester. Her freshman year was rough, she ended up failing it. That's why she is a junior this year, instead of a senior, but she doesn't care. It keeps people from knowing that she is actually super smart. Makes life just the tiniest bit more simple.
Roleplay Example
Aza was standing at the door to the Great Hall. She looked extremely nervous, like if she stepped on the wrong floor tile the whole room would blow up. A Healer stood about ten feet away, next to a table, trying to coax Aza over. She needed to eat breakfast. It was always such a challenge trying to get her to eat. It wasn't that she didn't know how to eat. She was fully capable of using silverware. She even knew which fork to use for salad, for the main course and for desert. She knew that. She just didn't eat on her own.
Everyone who was trying to get Aza back on her feet, found it to be quite difficult. She picked up basic skills pretty easily. It was getting her to do them that was the hard part. They had to make sure she got out of bed, otherwise she would lay in there for hours on end. They even had to make sure she got dressed. They had learned this when Aza came down one day in just a bra and underwear. Meals were the most difficult. They were trying to eat Aza to gain back a few needed pounds but the girl wouldn't take a bite unless someone was right there, instructing her to eat. It was like she had no motivation.
"Come on Aza. Please. I got you some pancakes. They even have a face on them." Said the Healer smiling to Aza. Finally, reluctantly, she walked over. Her hair was fairly fizzy and she wore a simple blue dress that came to her knees. She kind of looked like what Alice, from Alice in Wonderland, would look like as a mental institute patient. Aza sat down and glanced at the Healer. She nodded and Aza slowly began to eat. She would often stop and glance around the room. No one else was around, yet at least.
