Part of the perks of being a dorm monitor at Hammel was that Adrian had little reason to leave the institute grounds. His job was at the school, his housing also on school grounds, and most things could be found within that space. Although, the list ended there. He didn't get out much and so the list of people he knew was limited.

Once a week he went downtown, to walk around the city in the morning before he had to be back to wander school halls during the night. Adrian was finding that hard to do with the current weather state. The Arizona native rarely saw snow, until his move to Vermont. He was better adapted to it now but still was uncomfortable with the cold. Still, he didn't want that to stop him.

Really, he should have stayed at the school. The wind was beginning to pick up and even wearing gloves, Adrian could feel his fingers growing numb. A sign had piqued his interest; in front of the library, there was a sign pointing inside that said there was free hot cocoa. And who could say no to that?

Adrian walked inside, breathing a deep sigh of relief at the warm air. There were a lot of people, all huddled in blankets with cups in their hands. The weather was getting progressively worse outside, so Adrian decided he would stay for a few hours. Hopefully there'd be enough time to get back to the school before he was on call. Until then, he waited in line for the hot cocoa and figured he'd kill some time with a book.

Kocher and Hammel shared one thing in common at least. They were both cold, really cold, during this time of the year. Serena was thankful, at least that, knowing that, the various buildings around town usually prepared for when it was frigid, like today. So, when she was at the libary for books to try and get inspiration for her writing, she found herself able to get a blanket to snuggle in and hot cocoa for refreshment.

When it came to the temperature, her powers were weird. Her tolerance was higher, but she really didn't feel it any less. So...she wouldn't die of cold as quickly but she'd still feel it the whole way? As she headed for the cocoa line, she shrugged to herself. Worked out the sae anyway, now didn't it.

With a blanket draped around her shoulders, held tight against her gray sweater, and a book about robotics slung under her arm, she walked into the line. Literally, she walked into the line. So focused on keeping the blanket on her, she hadn't been paying enough attention and had walked into the person at the back of the line. Looking to him, she quickly said, "I'm so sorry." Her French accent briefly mingled with her American as she still switched when she was greatly surprised.

As Adrian stood in line waiting, he allowed his thoughts to wander. Naturally, he began to think of numbers and the statistics and probabilities that went with them. Like, the chance that they were going to run out of hot cocoa by the time he got to the front of the line (Only 5% likely if he didn't influence it to his favour) or whether or not he was going to make it back in time for his shift (61% likely that he was going to be late) at Hammel.

His control was a lot better, at least. It was easier to manage the onslaught of numbers in his head as he tried to think of something other than that. Maybe if he was lucky, Adrian would find an old statistics textbook lying around somewhere and he could work on problem sets in there to kill time.

He took a step forward, following the slow progression of people ahead of him. At that moment, it was enough that someone bumped into him. Adrian looked up from the ground, a confused expression crossing his features. He hadn't seen that coming; then again, the probabilities of someone literally running into him weren't in the back of his mind. "Oh, don't worry about it, it's fine." He answered quickly. Could happen to anyone.

Adrian tried to place a name to the face. He definitely recognized her as a student from Hammel, but clearly she wasn't a trouble maker (or she was good at hiding it) or else he would've known who she was. "Just watch out for others who might not be as careful." Like people with hot cocoa in their hands, or just careless individuals who paid no attention to where they went.
