Are You Jealous? (Gene)

Kodi had only been awake for about fifteen minutes today, and he was already met with a surprise.  It seemed like he did a lot of sleeping while he was in the hospital - the nurses told him that that was normal, both a combination of the drugs they were giving him and just his body recuperating from the alcohol poisoning.  He didn't mind, since he felt a little stir-crazy if he had to stare at the blank walls for too long, especially when he was by himself.  Fortunately someone had brought by some books to keep him occupied when he had no one to talk to, although thanks to a certain princess, those times were few.  

Then again, that someone had also helped another delinquent draw all over his sleeping face, which Kodi was still struggling to get washed off completely.  Jerks...

Anyway, the surprise had been there when he'd woken up - a bouquet of flowers being held by a white teddy bear, without a name attached on the label.  The only hint that Kodi got of who it was from was the small feather hand-drawn where a signature could be, and that was enough to bring a wave of guilt over the dentokinetic.  Despite everything, Gryph still sent him things.  Kodi had to wonder if he had actually visited himself, or if he'd just had it delivered...

Either way, he sat there with the teddy bear on his lap, staring down at it sadly and wishing he had some way to make up for all the shitty things he'd done to his ex.  All he ever managed to do was make himself worse rather than try to make someone else feel better, because that was a lot more work.

Gene came today with a few gifts. Well….Gene came every day since Kodi had been admitted into the hospital with a gift of some sort, most of it involving take-out food from a local 4 or 5 star restaurant. If he was going to be stuck in the hospital for a while, he may as well make sure he ate like a king instead of whatever sorry rubbish they served here.

Today, however, he came with a handheld video game(in case Kodi changed his mind about playing), another book, and a small bouquet of ‘get well soon’ flowers. They came very highly recommended from the hospital gift shop, though Gene didn’t quite like the card so he replaced it with a dick-whistle he’d gotten from….someone. Another offensive creep whom Gene refused to acknowledge the existence of.

Gene knocked on the door once(ew, what a terrible sound and his poor knuckles), then let himself in without waiting for permission to enter. Gene didn’t know if Kodi was asleep still or not, but was pleased to see that he wasn’t. Kodi was even sitting up. With something foreign and vomit-worthy settled in his lap. Gene scowled, but said nothing about it. Yet. “It’s about time you woke up. I would’ve drawn more dicks on your face if you weren’t.” He set the bag of food on the movable table, leaned forward to casually leave a brief peck on Kodi’s lips. Then he made a face. “You taste gross. When did you bathe last?”

Kodi was starting to feel pretty damn spoiled in this place. If he didn’t feel so crummy all the time and get claustrophobic from being in such a small, secluded space, he might be able to get used to this kind of life. Gene was being (a tiny bit) nicer than usual, and brought him all sorts of delicious foods that Kodi wasn’t used to. Unfortunately he still had trouble downing it sometimes if his stomach was queasy, but he’d only thrown up a couple times, which he figured was good. He was about ready to rip out the tube still going up into his nose, though.

He looked up from staring at the bear plushie and his eyes lit up, seeing Gene standing there in the doorway with goodies. “You spoil me,” he pretended to complain, although he felt really hungry and he was craving some sort of company. “I hope you haven’t been stayin’ here too much when I’m asleep, I can’t imagine how borin’ that would be.” Not to mention he didn’t want more drawings on his face. Kodi scowled slightly at the empty threat. “I’m gonna get you back for that,” he warned with a firm nod. He was still weak, but at least his snark was coming back.

His expression relaxed slightly as Gene gave him a small peck, and Kodi licked his lips, realizing how dry they were. “It ain’t my fault,” he complained. “I ain’t shaved in days, either. I’m getting’ stubble.” Kodi rubbed his chin, disliking how prickly he felt. “I hope I get outta here soon, this place is gonna drive me nuts.” He still held the bear in his lap without realizing it. “What’d you get me to eat this time?”

Gene was glad that Kodi was getting some rest. He still didn’t like how the boy ended up in here, but it was already done and nothing was going to change that, so he wasn’t going to harp on him now over it. There would be plenty of time to do that when he got out. And besides, Gene knew exactly where Kodi was every day, what he was going to be doing, and Gene could come and go as he pleased. Whenever he wanted to see Kodi, he could just come to the hospital and see him, and he knew the boy would be free. Generally. It gave Gene less to worry about with the older boy. And he at least knew he was staying out of trouble this way too.

But there were still things that went on with Kodi that Gene didn’t know much about, or understand. Like, why was Kodi so attached to that stuffed bear and where did it come from? Gene harrumphed. “Someone has to. Who knows what sort of poison they’ll feed you here if I didn’t.” Gene had seen their meals before. It looked rancid.

Gene shrugged. “It’s okay,” he said casually, then held up his Nintendo DS. “I brought something to do this time. And another one if you wanted to play.” He didn’t expect it from Kodi though. A small smile appeared on his lips. “Sure you will.” Drawing on Kodi had been fun and he’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Gene didn’t know how he’d gotten brave enough to start greeting Kodi with a kiss, though. It just seemed to fit these days, though he hadn’t really started initiating it until Kodi had been admitted into the hospital. Maybe it was just his way of assuring Kodi that he did give a shit, even if it seemed like he didn’t. “You look weird,” he said, making a classic stank face at the stubble on Kodi’s chin. “I’d shave it for you, but I might slit your throat if you piss me off.” So not a good idea. Gene stared down at the bear between Kodi’s hands. “Food,” he said helpfully, then pointed. “What’s that?” As in, where’d it come from?

Kodi was… surprised but glad that Gene hadn’t asked for details about what had happened. He figured the boy could probably figure it out on his own, especially since he’d had nurses and doctors and who knows what other kind of people coming in and talking to him about his ‘addiction’, as they called it after learning about his behavior with alcohol, and getting him into a program to help him with it. Kodi didn’t know what to think of it all, but… He wouldn’t deny that he didn’t want this to happen again, and was afraid his own patterns of self-harm might bring him here again, or worse.

He rolled his eyes as Gene’s concern. “It’s a fuckin’ hospital. I think they’re supposed to cure poisoned people an’ shit, not do it themselves.” Still, he had to admit that the stuff Gene brought him was waaaay better than the soup and jello and nonsense that was available here. As for the games… “Thanks, but I like my books better,” he replied with a small smile. “Nice thing about bein’ here, I’m catchin’ up on all of my series. I’m glad you’re keepin’ yourself busy, though.” And not just by drawing on Kodi’s body.

He licked his lips absent-mindedly. If there was anything positive that came out of this experience, it was that he and Gene seemed to be growing closer, which he hadn’t realized he’d been craving so much until now. Still, he liked the snark too, and snorted quietly at his jab at his appearance. “You look just as pretty as ever, my dumplin’ princess,” he teased back. “I dunno, I’m thinkin’ about growin’ it out. Grow a full-on beard, wouldn’t that look sexy?” Kodi snickered and reached up to boop the boy affectionately on the nose. “Great. Food. I’m starvin’, can I have it?”

When the younger boy pointed to the bear in his lap, Kodi glanced down, having forgotten it was there. He frowned a little and held it closer to his chest, glancing away. “… It came with the bouquet,” he replied vaguely, motioning to the flowers on a nearby shelf. “There wasn’t a name on it.” Which wasn’t completely a lie, but it was obvious that Kodi was hiding something.

Gene had gathered enough from eavesdropping about what had happened to Kodi, though that didn’t mean he knew all the details.  Just the effect, and the hospital, and the treatment…everything from the moment it happened to now, he pretty much understood.  It was the before that he didn’t know enough about.  That idiot….why didn’t he call him?  Or come over?  Didn’t Kodi know he was allowed to do that by now?
 
Whatever, by the time they were out of here, Gene was going to make damn sure that Kodi knew that, one way or the other, even if he had to drill it into his head with a hacksaw! 

“It’s still gross,” he grumbled, looking down and away indignantly. Gene wouldn’t touch it, even if it happened to be a food item he liked. Just the fact that it came from a hospital made it gross. Just like cafeteria food. No matter how good it was rumored to be, Gene wouldn’t have it, and still brought his lunch every day. If for some reason he forgot his lunch…well, he still wouldn’t eat it. It was no wonder this kid was so skinny. Gene nodded slightly. “Mmm, right. I thought you might,” he said, pulling out the other item he’d brought for Kodi. “If I get really bored, you can read this to me.” He set the book on the table next to the bed, close enough for Kodi to grab if he wanted it.

Gene wasn’t sure what to call this relationship of theirs either. Sure, he had used the word ‘boyfriend’ to describe himself to the nurses, but…that wasn’t what it was, really? He only said it because Kodi said it first, albeit when he was drunk or otherwise impaired. Still, Gene couldn’t help the flutter in his chest when Kodi spouted off that silly girly nickname,. And he called him pretty again. Gene frowned into a small blush. “Good luck. I find it a miracle you were able to grow that much.” The blush grew with the boop and Gene shrunk down between his shoulders, even more shy than before. “Sure. I’ll shove it down your throat. You can choke on it.” Words of disdain? Or affection?

Gene eyed the stupid stuffed bear, then glanced at the indicated bouquet. “Oh,” he said shortly. “…I brought you one too. I should put it away first.” Gene stood from his seat and walked the bouquet and vase he’d brought around to the table where the other one was. “So you don’t know who it’s from? It didn’t come with a card?” he asked, staring at the eyesore. Though the lights from the hospital dimmed his aura considerably, if Kodi was paying attention he might see the faintest glimmer of a small, forest green ball appear over the younger boy’s torso.

“You’re not wrong,” Kodi admitted about the hospital food. He wasn’t a picky eater, but the meals he’d been given could have definitely been better. He was glad he had Gene to go out and get him better food, even if he wasn’t worried about being ‘poisoned’, per say. He perked up excitedly as Gene pulled out a book, taking a peek at the title and grinning happily. “You’re the best, babe,” Kodi said, reaching his arm up and wrapping his hand around the back of Gene’s neck to pull him in for another smooch. “I’ll read t’you whenever you want.” He didn’t mind in the least.

Honestly, the term ‘boyfriend’ when used to describe Gene still made Kodi feel a little uncomfortable, and he’d only said it when paired with the dumpling-princess nickname. They’d never really spoken about it, and Kodi wasn’t sure that he wanted to. This whole situation had brought up old memories and opened up old wounds about his ex-boyfriend that he’d been trying not to think about, and now, especially, with the stuffed animal resting in his lap, the dentokinetic was even more confused and conflicted. He half-wondered if Gryph would actually come and visit himself, since he’d obviously found out from someone, probably Oriel or Phoenix. “Whaaat? You don’t like it?” Kodi teased, trying to get close enough to Gene’s face so he could rub the stubble against his skin. He smirked and opened his mouth widely, eager to accept whatever challenge the younger boy gave him with his meal. “I’m ready!” he announced, not intimidated in the least. “I’m sure it will taste great.”

He glanced at Gene’s bouquet as he mentioned it, and Kodi’s eyes softened, touched by the selfless gesture. “Thanks, Gene…” he mumbled, watching him put the vase away on the shelf. He smiled a little at the pair of them, amazed that he’d been given one, let alone two. It made him feel much less alone, somehow. “Huh? Oh, uhhhh…” A guilty blush began to rise up on his cheeks. “W-well, it has a label, but there’s no name on it,” he explained. Kodi glanced back at Gene and was about to say something more when he caught sight of the unfamiliar color on the boy’s aura. It took him a moment to remember what it meant, and when he did, the Chinese boy’s brows lifted in surprise. “…. Are you jealous?” he asked slowly.

Of course he wasn’t wrong. Gene was never wrong(lies!). It was in Kodi’s best interest to have at least a good meal while he was stuck in here. Hopefully he wouldn’t have to be in there for very much longer. Seeing Kodi smile so genuinely had been happening a lot more the past few days, though, yet every time it still seemed to give Gene a bit of a start. He was blushing from the sight when Kodi pulled him in for another sweet kiss, just the way Gene told him he liked it, and Gene was receptive to it in kind. “….okay….” he said, his head a bit too fuzzy to think of a courser way to respond like he usually would.

Gene was being weird and that was unsettling. Did he want it to be ‘boyfriend’? He had conflicting feelings about the label as well, but couldn’t help the strangely pleasant tickle he got from the thought of it. He hated it, none of it made sense, and it was just a lot easier when he insulting this guy to his ugly face.

His ugly face that was now made more ugly from the stubble. Gene scrunched his face and whined when Kodi sandpapered him with his chin. “Noooo!” he wailed like a two year old. “It’s scratchy and dirty and gross~” And it tickled something terrible, so much Gene was holding back his wails of discomfort from shifting into squeals of laughter. It was only because it was Kodi that he was even considering letting that happen, but no…not here. Not at the hospital, where there were so many other eyes and ears and people. Gene rubbed his cheek when he was finally released, his face a blaring red by now. “Hmph! We’ll see. I’ll cover it in chili powder, then we’ll see how much you like it when your tongue is on fire!” Gene would do it too! He didn’t have any on him at the moment, but he would if he did!

Again, Gene was feeling weird, and for some reason just didn’t like the idea that there was someone else out there who would send Kodi something like a bouquet to his hospital room. Even less that it had come with a bear that Kodi seemed so attached to. It was yet another thing he felt like he was better off knowing, but now that he did….Gene really wished he didn’t. Ignorance is bliss, or something like that, right? Gene seemed to scowl just a little bit more at the other bouquet as Kodi explained about the card. “…but you know who it’s from?” he said more as a statement than a question. It had to be from someone who knew the dentokinetic, and someone who gave a shit enough to send him something so disgustingly cute as a teddy bear. Then came the accusation(it was only a question!), and Gene snapped his head around, face bloomed crimson in a sudden fluster. “I-I wouldn’t be so stupid!!” he stammered, glaring obstinately at the older boy. Why would he be jealous?? What a stupid notion!

It had taken so long for Kodi and Gryph to become official, the dentokinetic just felt…. Rushed, trying to find a way to describe their relationship. He liked what they had, but he also did sort of like the fact that he was still somewhat free to be with other people occasionally too… even if Gene was his favorite.

Whatever, he’d think about it later, it didn’t matter now. All that mattered was that Gene was taking care of him and that Kodi was rewarding him by rubbing his scruff all over his face. Bwahahaa! “You liiiike it~” he crooned, laughing at the boy’s reaction. “Doesn’t it make me look older and sophisticated?” He knew it made him look like a hobo or something, but it wasn’t like he was going to bother with it until he got out of here. Kodi’s eyes were full of playful mirth when he finally let Gene go. “Oooh, I like spicy food,” he cackled. “Just try me! Then I’ll kiss you with tongue and get it all in your mouth too.” Kodi made a kissing motion and licked his lips suggestively. “… Really though, I’m starvin’, can I have it?” he asked more seriously after a moment, when his stomach growled.

He also sort of wanted the distraction of food to keep Gene from questioning him about the bear and bouquet. Kodi wasn’t sure he was ready to talk about Gryph with the boy yet, especially seeing the green haze around his aura without him even knowing who the gift-giver was. “….. I have a suspicion,” he admitted in a reluctant mumble. He winced as the younger boy exploded at his question, but that sort of outburst only served to show Kodi that he was right about his assumption. “Right…” he replied, not believing a word he said. “…. You don’t gotta be jealous. You know you’re still my favorite, right?” Kodi reached out and took Gene’s hand in his own, giving it a gentle squeeze. “You’re the only one that keeps comin’ t’visit me every day even though I know it’s a pain. And… I really appreciate that, Gene.” Maybe it was the drugs that were making him so sincere and sappy, but it was what it was.

Gene too thought it was quick…but what was considered quick, really? They’d had sex on their second time meeting for crying out loud!! That wasn’t rushed? Either way, Gene just didn’t like not knowing…whatever it was they were. And he didn’t like mulling over it either. He’d much rather yell…that always solved everything(no it didn’t).

Just like how he was when Kodi did stupid things like rubbing his stupid ugly face against Gene’s pretty face…no, he didn’t just call himself pretty! “Noooo, I dooon’t,” he continued to whine, the corners of his lips starting to curl upwards. “MmMm!” Gene whinnied in a tone of disagreement, keeping his lips shut as tight while only allowing the tiniest sounds to titter out from the back of his throat. He would not be beaten yet, not by a stupid scratchy beard attack!! He was finally allowed relief when they focused on the food rather than the hair on Kodi’s face. Gene sneered in disgust at Kodi’s enthusiasm. “Ugh, you would like spicy food,” he said as though speaking an insult. “Don’t you dare or I’ll kill you,” he shot back to the threat, pulling the take-out container from the plastic bag and setting it on the bed next to the sick-minded boy. “There, happy?” He better be.

Jealousy was just something stupid people did over stupid affairs and Gene refused to believe he was that stupid, especially when he and Kodi weren’t even anything worthy of being jealous over! But…Gene really didn’t like that Kodi seemed to be hiding something. He scowled. “Sure you do,” he said, narrowing his eyes in a disbelieving glare. “If there’s nothing, then why are you——!?” he started, his face quickly blooming a bright red as the word ‘favorite’ finally sunk in, and Gene was left with his mouth hanging open, too flustered to produce any coherent sounds for about five seconds. “I-I….I’m not….that’s not because of—“ he stammered, looking down at their hands then quickly back up at the punk’s stupid face. “J-just eat your food already and stop being stupid, it’s making you spout nonsense!” So he said, but Gene didn’t move to pull his hand away, instead wrapping it around Kodi’s and reciprocating the light squeeze. Damn, it was getting too hot in here….

Kodi kept cackling as he rubbed his scruff on the younger boy, egged on by his reactions to the sandpaper-y texture. “It’ll just make it seem that much nicer when I get home t’shave an’ it’s all nice and smooth again,” he purred. “I’ll rub it all over you again then.” Ugh, he couldn’t wait to get out of here. Even going to the bathroom was a pain with all this junk attached to him. “Yup,” he replied smugly about the food. “You just have borin’ taste.” For himself, at least – Kodi was actually pretty impressed with what Gene got for him most of the time, and wasn’t disappointed this time as he opened up the container with weak, fumbling fingers. He took a deep whiff and sighed happily. “You’re my hero, dumplin’ princess,” he hummed, smiling up at Gene. Kodi grabbed a fork and began trying to shovel the food into his mouth without spilling too much on himself.

To be fair, Kodi hadn’t seen that color in Gene’s aura much, if at all, before. He knew the younger boy was pretty vain and smug with his life, and usually pitied others that didn’t have it as nice as he did. Which was surprising why he seemed to be upset now, over a random bouquet of flowers. “…. I think it’s from my ex, okay?” he finally admitted with a touch of exasperation. “It wasn’t like he visited me or anythin’, though. It was just there when I woke up.” He watched Gene’s reaction, feeling just a little bit guilty that he’d made the boy have such a strong response. Although… It was also a little satisfying, too, seeing how flustered Gene had become over something like this. He chuckled when the rich boy told him to stop talking about it, but shrugged and did as he asked, shoveling some more of the meal in his mouth with a content hum. Kodi was glad that he didn’t remove his hand, though. “So, played any good games lately?” he asked, attempting to lighten the situation. He may be a bit of a jerk, but he wasn’t going to hold this against Gene, or taunt him with it for an extended period of time.

“Nooo~” he wailed again, this time with a full smile as he was finally broken, and made to laugh and giggle and squeal like the idiot he didn’t want to look like. Dammit, he was gonna get that punk for this! Somehow… Gene struggled to catch his breath when Kodi finally let him go, his expression reverting immediately back to his usual scowl. “So what?” he growled. “I like what I like, it’s nobody else’s business.” Gene at least understood that other people liked things that he personally found disgusting(that wouldn’t stop him from voicing his opinion on it though), and knew that Kodi had a much wider pallet than he did. Gene made his selections for Kodi based on the restaurant’s recommendations though, since his own preferences were useless for deciding such things for other people. He was glad that Kodi seemed to like the food, though. “I-it’s….it’s fine, don’t mention it,” he said, slightly flustered. Why was Kodi smiling so much lately? It was weird and caught Gene off guard every time.

Everything going on today was leaving Gene unsettled, especially that stupid bear and stupid bouquet that came with it, and then Kodi acting so obviously like he was hiding something and Gene just….didn’t like it! He didn’t like it and that was it, he wasn’t jealous or anything! Though when he heard Kodi’s suspicion… Gene stared blankly at the dentokinetic, then looked back at the ugly bouquet that was getting uglier by the second. “Oh,” he said monotonously. “Fine. There, that wasn’t so hard, was it?” Though Gene’s green spot only grew darker. He was actively trying to keep his aura hidden now, though it may not have worked quite well enough.

At least they didn’t have to continue with that conversation about his ex, nor the one about him being jealous, or the one about Gene being his favorite or none of it. He could just concentrate on something easy, like video games. Gene kept their hands together at first, standing by the older boy’s bedside and staring down at Kodi as he continued to eat. “Not really. Just repeats and boring new stuff….” And thus, it wasn’t exciting enough to talk about, unfortunately. Gene remained quiet for an extended moment, then finally pulled away from Kodi with a sigh. He headed to the door…

To close it….but he didn’t tell Kodi that.

Heh, that was the Gene that Kodi liked to see but didn’t get to very often. “Have I ever told you you’re even cuter when you’re smiling and laughing?” he teased, although the dentokinetic was telling the truth. Ahh, but it didn’t last long, and he pouted a little upon seeing Gene’s expression go back to its usual grump. “Fair enough,” he replied, lifting his hands slightly in acceptance. “If you wanna eat Nutella and canned weenies for the rest of your life, be my guest.” That sounded like hell to him. He, meanwhile, would sit here and enjoy this delicious food that probably would cost him a couple hours’ worth of work at the book shop. “Do you wanna try a bite, babe?” he asked with an innocent smile, holding out a forkful. “It’s really really good~ I dunno where you keep gettin’ all this shit but I’m gonna get spoiled rotten here pretty soon.”

Kodi told himself he was trying to keep Gryph out of this conversation for Gene’s own good, but was that really it? Or was he afraid how the boy would react and that it would backlash on himself if he mentioned it? Well, it was obvious Gene wanted to get it out of him one way or another, so Kodi finally confessed, even if unwillingly. He fidgeted uncomfortably with the bear as he waited for a reaction, and when Gene did speak, he winced. “I guess…” he mumbled, risking a glance up and seeing the darker green aura despite how much Gene tried to hide it. “I told you though, you ain’t gotta be jealous. It ain’t like he dropped it off himself an’… confessed his undyin’ love for me or anything. I’m sure he still hates me, he’s just… Too nice for his own good.” Hm, maybe that wasn’t the right thing to say….

Kodi kept munching on his food, hoping the awkwardness would leave the air if they talked about something else. Gene’s answer didn’t give him much to respond to, though, so he just looked up with an uncertain “Oh.” Well, so much for that. It wasn’t like he knew much about video games anyway. He frowned as the boy pulled away and moved towards the door. “Hey… Where’re you goin’?” he whined, worried he’d upset the guy. “You’re not leavin’ me yet, are you?”

Gene shook his head, his eyes shut tight as he tried to keep himself from laughing like a childish maniac, but it was no use while Kodi was tickling him. He squealed out a loud sound of disapproval to Kodi’s teasing, though it was soon enough that Gene was finally released from that torture and was allowed to relax his face back to normal. He rubbed his cheeks, as they’d become sore from smiling and laughing too much. His sides were sore too. Jerk.

“I’ll eat whatever I want,” he insisted, feeling no absolutely no shame over his eating habits. If he didn’t like something, then he didn’t like something! End of story! He grimaced at the offer of food Kodi made to him, leaning back slightly in disgust. “No thanks…” he said, leering at the bite warily, as if it would somehow pop into his mouth unsuspectingly if he got too close. “You can be spoiled all by yourself.”

The matter of Kodi and his ex was not a topic that Gene thought would never come up - Kodi had mentioned the other boy often enough, if just in passing - but he didn’t expect it to be when Kodi was in the hospital, and when that guy had been here! The way Kodi was speaking about this unknown past lover brought only a deeper scowl to Gene’s face. “That makes no sense and you know it,” he challenged. “If he hated you, then he wouldn’t have gone out of his way to leave you flowers and a teddy bear, of all things.” Gene wasn’t yelling, but he was seething, speaking calmly and carefully with every word. “And he obviously knew he shouldn’t have, otherwise he wouldn’t have left such a stupid vague card that only you could understand.” It was as if he didn’t want anyone else to know that he’d stopped in. “I would’ve had more respect for him if he just came in and said ‘hello’ instead of sneaking around.” That was what grated on Gene the most.

Gene had thought about leaving, to be honest, but every time he resolved to let go of Kodi’s hand and walk out, he found that he didn’t want to. So when he silently left the boy’s bedside, he approached the door, and simply closed it and locked it. Gene paused for a moment, then headed back, breathing out softly, “No…I’m not.” When he got back to the bed, Gene took the fancy plastic container of food from Kodi and set it on the table beside the bed. Then he slowly climbed onto it, straddling himself over the boy’s legs. Without a word, despite any protests Kodi might have, Gene leaned forward and kissed him, sweetly yet with a hint of passion, cupping the dentokinetic’s cheek as he gently entwined their tongues.

Kodi was determined to someday get Gene on a better diet, if only so he’d feel like Gene wasn’t so malnourished and thin. Then again… he wasn’t exactly the epitome of health right now, either, so he would keep that to himself for now. “Alright,” he replied with a shrug, munching the bite happily. “I will, gladly.” He could probably eat two portions of this stuff – he was hungry!

He continued to eat uncomfortably as the subject of his ex hung in the air. “You don’t know him…” Kodi mumbled awkwardly. “That guy would give a dozen roses to his worst enemy.” Okay, that was exaggerating a little, but Gryph had always been too nice for his own good, which was probably why they’d been together as long as they had in the first place. Gryphon deserved way better than him. Kodi did finally loosen his hold on the teddy bear, but he kept it close by his side anyway. It was just sort of nice to have something to hold. “I… I dunno… Maybe he planned on comin’ in and givin’ it t’me, but he saw that I was sleepin’ so he left the stuff here and will come again another time?” He supposed it was possible, and didn’t just say it for Gene’s sake.

His heart sunk in his chest, afraid that the boy had indeed had enough and was leaving in a fit. However, Kodi’s expression grew confused as Gene shut the door and turned the lock, and he let out a nervous laugh. “I don’t think you’re supposed t’do that, what if my vitals go all whacky and they need t’get in?” he mumbled. He looked up with a mixture of hope and worry as the rich boy came back to his bedside, letting his hands go limp to relinquish his meal if only to see what the guy was planning. “H-hey, what’re you…” Kodi didn’t move as Gene clambered on top of him, and was about to say something else when his mouth was muffled with the other boy’s. He let out a soft grunt and easily melted into the kiss, raising his hands so that one rested on Gene’s side and the other nestled into his hair. Kodi kissed him for a good while – somehow, hearing the blips of his heartrate on the monitor speed up made it even hotter – before he finally pulled back to let himself breathe and laugh quietly. “What, you want to ride me while I’m stuck here in this bed?” he teased weakly. “I can’t imagine I’m all that sexy right now. You’re gonna give yourself a rash if you keep kissin’ me, too…” Not that Kodi would complain if he did.
