By popular demand, Hammel is hosting a Spirit Week this week (the last week in April). Here is the calendar of Spirit Week themes:
Monday, April 25, 2016: 90s Day
-Students should wear the terrible clothing styles that were popular in the 90s. For inspiration, please look up any episode of "Clarissa Explains It All," and "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" or the R.E.M. music video for "Shiny Happy People."
Tuesday, April 26, 2016: Holi-Day
-Students should wear an outfit appropriate for, or reminiscent of, their favorite holiday, no matter what it is.
Wednesday, April 27, 2016: Superhero Day
-Students should wear clothing or costumes reminiscent of their favorite superheroes, be they from Marvel or DC, from a more independent publisher, from cartoons like the Powerpuff Girls, or even Doug Funnie's alter ego "Quail Man."
Thursday, April 28, 2016: Green Day
-Since Arbor Day coincides with Spirit Day, the staff chose Green Day for Thursday. Students should wear green clothing (and, thanks to a suggestion by Etch, a small percentage of the students should opt for punk clothing due to misinterpreting the theme).
Friday, April 29, 2016: Spirit Day (School Color Day)
-Students should wear Hammel school colors (blue and white) and in lieu of a pep rally, there will be a pizza party in the cafeteria and a water balloon fight in the courtyard.
The school dress code will remain in effect for Spirit Day, which means everyone needs to wear shoes, some form of outfit covering their underwear (pants, shorts, skirts, kilts, etc.), and a shirt/blouse/dress-type chest covering. Nothing obscene or involving bigotry as slogans.
Please make Spirit Week threads! Staff will put up a party/water balloon thread on Friday which will be open to all students and staff characters.
