Thread Roulette: Lions and Tigers and Bears

Cecilia Ramsey, Cleo Warren, and Beck Grenier will spend the day feeding animals up for adoption, cleaning up their areas, and doing anything else that the animals need while Strickland Sanctuary hosts a pet adoption day.

Volunteering was SO MUCH FUN. Well, usually... For Cecilia, anyway. When she signed up to do volunteer work in May, she was expecting trash pickup. Every time she did this "at her old school," it was trash pickup. But today she got to go to the shelter to help with the animals! OH EM GEE SO CUTE.

Cece made sure to wear something she didn't mind getting dirty - a t-shirt and some old track pants - before she headed to the Strickland Sanctuary that morning. She asked the first person she saw that looked official what she should do to help. They were not the right person. Oops! The second person was, though, and she pointed Cecilia to some pooper-scoopers for the outside play area.

Cece scampered off and grabbed one. Now the hunt was on!

If she was being completely honest, the only reason Cleo signed up to volunteer today was because it was going to look good on her resume. She wanted to get into a good college. She wasn’t sure exactly where it was she wanted to go yet, but she knew that schools ate shit like this up. So she would suck it up and pick up garbage on the side of the road, or read to less fortunate children for a day.

However, she was not expecting to be assigned to the Strickland Sanctuary to help with the animals during adoption day. She was teamed up with two other younger students, who she knew from school. Cleo loved animals, probably even more than she loved people. And even though she didn’t really want to spend the whole day cleaning up their messes, she’d make do.

Luckily when she arrived at the shelter whoever was in charge pointed her to the animal food and instructed her to fill all the bowls with water and food. So she poured each large bowl with enough food and water for the amount of animals in each kennel, and then spent the next five minutes (maybe ten…) petting the puppies she’d just fed. She knew she probably should be moving on, but they were just so fucking cute. Even the little kittens were adorable, and Cleo wasn’t even known to be a cat a person.

But she moved on before she got reprimanded, spending another five minutes playing with the animals in the next kennel. It’d be an amazing feat if she didn’t end up trying to take one (or five) of these dogs back to school with her.
