Thread Roulette: Who Goes There?

Given the string of vandalism and vitriol targeting some meta-human establishments around town, Hammel's staff is understandably on edge. Thus, when students report seeing some strangers nearby, Katy Sherlock and Doris Hanes go out during lunch to check it out, with security prepared to come in as backup.

If you weren't after students to keep them on campus, then you were chasing off trespassers. There was a lot of hoo-ha going on Pilot Ridge. It made everyone on edge because it seemed to meta-humans was the targets. When students started saying there were strangers hanging around it was time to investigate. Doris and Katy were the ones sent on this mission. Doris didn't understand why a dorm monitor and a doctor were the ones doing this. Why couldn't the school's security do this? Wasn't this kind of things their job?

Doris was on the move. If there were any creeps hanging around the school she'd chased them off. A school was no place for creeps. She led the way to the pond. What was were the strangest were spotted. The old lady finally stopped. She looked around for any signs of intruders. "All this hoo-ha is getting out of control. What do you make of all this?"

Katy stumbled after Doris, the back of her hands reddened as she pulled bone matter closer to the surface - just in case they happened to stumble upon some trouble. Which she very much doubted. The call to head out towards the pond seemed a bit odd. Some students must have just been spooked due to the tense vibe that correlated with the recent meta attacks.

Although their jobs weren't either security or anything physical, Katy understood why they had sent her, though she wasn't entirely clear on why Doris was sent. Her bone manipulation can be useful should a scuffle occur but Doris was... elderly, in the best sense of the way. The Hammel doctor assumed that it must be because of Doris's ability as well. Though she doubted an elderly woman would be able to scare off any harassers - even if she was a bit intimidating to Katy.

Katy almost bumped into said woman as Doris stopped and spoke to her. Ho-ha? She pondered, frowning slightly before answering.

"Well, I think the report of strangers might be exaggerated. Students are fearful due to the recent attacks, along with most of the staff. But there's no smoke without fire so..." Katy trailed off, shrugging her shoulders with a sigh.

Doris didn’t deny Katy about that. People tend to exaggerate the truth. That was the main way rumors got so distorted. Whether this was an exaggeration or not, it needed looking into.

Things looked in order. There wasn’t anything out of the ordinary that caught Doris’ attention. But there might be something there that was hidden. “Do you think this is just the stretch of the truth?” Doris wasn’t sure what she thought. A part of her felt like there was someone hanging whether that person was part of what had been happening around Pilot Ridge. Another part of her felt the same as Katy. It was all an exaggeration.
