[Ingrid Barnes]

This is Ingrid Barnes. She's old, stubborn, and surprisingly sharp for her age. At 68, she's seen everything twice.

Ingrid is a biology teacher at Hammel and she's been here for longer then she cares to count. She's old school, and takes pleasure in being one of the hardest teacher's here. But she's not cold, just a bit world weary. Ingrid has the ability to control sand and has a good grip on her control.

Ingrid's actually a good soul underneath her stern exterior. She loves watching children grow and sees the best in the people around her. She's motherly and kind to those who need her. She's got a taste for good wine and food, and would be more then willing to listen to anyone who'd promise one or the other.

Friends

Ingrid may come off as a crotchety mule but she's got a soft spot for children. And children means just about anyone; to Ingrid if you're under 30 you're still a kid. Ingrid looks favorably on those who are respectful and likes to think she gets on rather well with her coworkers. She's the type to be like a mentor to the younger staff or to act motherly to her students. Having three kids has left her in permanent mother hen mode.

Enemies

Ingrid despises disrespect. In her opinion, you look up to your elders and that is that. Ingrid has loved this school since her arrive over five decades ago and doesn't take kindly to anyone who would threaten her home. A lot of folks think they are on her bad side, but that's just part of her personality. If you were to really get her disliking you, Ingrid would make sure you knew.

Lovers

Ingrid's been happily married for many years and doesn't see a reason to change that. Besides in her age, she feels a fling would do her poor heart in.

[Stephen Gage]

Seeing as how Stephen's mother is 3000 miles away, he'd be more than happy to treat Ingrid as one. He's a rather friendly chap, excitable and talkative, and I feel that would rather remind her of what it was like to have young children. He is a recruiter at the school, and has been there since he was 14 (He is 32 now). He has a thing for respectfulness, largely as a result of the inherent lack of concern for free will that his power entails. Have you any further ideas?

I do believe that Josh would admire Ingrid greatly. Direct and stubborn? She sounds exactly like the sort of person he likes.

I just need to think of a reason for them to interact because they must, it is imperative. (And I would add more but I just realized what time it is and I have to run.)

Ooh, Sidra and Jessica! Yes yes yes!

As students Sidra turns her work in late. Constantly. She doesn't pay much attention in class, but her work (when she does turn it in) is well thought out, and while not always right, decent.

Jessica's work (When she gets to Hammel) will be on time, and right. The problem is she might be cheating due to her own abilities. That being said, she'll love love love Ingrid. She probably wants to be like the old broad when (if) she grows up.

Stephen- Ingrid would happily adopt all the staff if she could, so she'd be delighted to have Stephen around. Since she's been around so long, Ingrid would have most likely taught him at some point. If he's respectful, she'd adore him. She's got a thing for keeping tabs on her old students, especially those who now work at Hammel, so we could run with that somehow?

Joshua- I think Joshua and Ingrid would get along just fine. He works in town correct? I can imagine they'd have bumped into each other eventually over the few decades Ingrid's living here. I not completely sure how they would have/will meet but I agree that they should. Soon.

(Double post cause I just saw Sidra/Jessica)

Ingrid would have a field day trying to get Sidra to mind. She's a bit of a busy body (feels she deserves it in old age) and would be trying to bud in on her life in the why-aren't-you-doing-as-I-say kind of way. Ingrid would see the smarts in the girl and try to weasel it out of her at every chance she got.

As for Jessica, Ingrid would probably try to act mentor-ish around the girl. She likes being liked, and has a fair amount of pride, so anyone who's willing to want to act like her would be just perfect in Ingrid's book.

Ingrid would likely have been Sean's biology teacher in his Hammel student days, although that was a long time ago. This would make her, like Claude, one of the few people who remembers quiet student Sean as opposed to confident psychiatrist Sean.

I think, with Sean being Sean, Ingrid would be a little less motherly and a be more at treating him like they are on the same level. She would look at him as a respected colleague and friend, and be proud of his transition from the quiet kid in the back row to the well liked man he is today. She'd also be less likely to pull the age card on him, since he's hit to limit of what Ingrid considers a proper adult. Though I image she'll still keep an eye on him as she does everyone else and will slip, from time to time, into her teacher/mother hen mode when she thinks he needs it.

Ingrid is throwing a Thanksgiving dinner at her place! Her kids are going to their respective partner's families for the holidays, and the old bat just can't stand not having the house filled for Thanksgiving. So she's inviting all her coworkers, students, and even the townies over. If you want to be part of the party, let me know!

Shade isn't very respectful, but she isn't intentionally disrespectful. She's just seen a lot of things, some of them twice, same as Ingrid. She could use a little bit of mothering. She comes from a broken home, not that she talks about that, and could use seeing an adult do good in her life. Besides that, Shade likes people with a backbone, even if she doesn't like school. She's several years behind.

I am so late to reply to this, and on the wrong account but:

Ingrid can never have too many adopted babies. She certainly doesn't have enough female pups and needs some more actual students to mother at since most of her 'kids' are staff members. And Ingrid wouldn't mind helping Samantha catch back up; at least as far as science is involved.

It's all good. XD I can't say Sam (who may have to sullenly agree to be called that even) will feel the same way initially, but she'll need it. Thread in the classes, I suppose? I'm happy to start, though not until tomorrow and I totally understand if you're busy.

Can I just say that a thread between those two would be far to amusing? Landom would have had her as well, since he's 33, and in school he was quite the trouble maker. He's calmed down a little bit since his time as a student, but not much.
