Welcoming Royalty - Sett Tags Ra/Isis

Ra was coming to town and he'd brought Isis over with him. Sett wasn't too thrilled that his eldest brother still couldn't see that he would be able to handle things on his end in Pilot Ridge but it didn't mean he wasn't excited to see his brother again. It had been months since he saw the big lug so him coming over had its perks. Sort of.

So Sett was given the strenuous duty of picking his two brothers from the airport. Anu was off probably stealing another shiny paraphernalia [Sett reckoned it was a washing machine button; the boy was not known for his practicality when it came to stealing], Horus was in school and Sahky happily volunteered to cook for her elder siblings.

Plane food equaled nasty stomachaches.

The ride down to the airport was filled with some very heavy bass beats, something Sett was sure wasn't Ra or even Isis' taste, just to annoy them [it was just what brothers do].

Once inside, he checked his phone for the flight detail and with the sign he had made from scratch: that had glitter and stickers of unicorns around the words "The Hulk" and "Blondie", he approached the correct gate where Ra and Isis were supposed to be. He was just in time for the arrival of passengers so he waved the sign over his head with a grin. He couldn't wait to see Ra's reaction to his artwork.

Fact: It takes eight to eight and a half hours to fly across the Atlantic on a commercial flight.

Also fact: the average adult needs eight hours of sleep to function properly.

Theory: if an adult was to fall asleep on an airplane flying across the Atlantic, when they arrived in their destination they would be alert and functional.

Well, bang goes that theory.

Ra had dozed off almost as soon as the wheels had left the ground in London, sleeping his entire way through the flight over the Atlantic with his hand firmly encasing Isis’s. Ra did not like flying, not in the least, and falling asleep was his coping mechanism. He theorized that if anything went horribly wrong, he would still be asleep if he were to die an instantaneous death. And, if he were awakened, he would, theoretically, be far too groggy to feel the imminent pain of his horrible and gruesome end.

Yet when the wheels touching the ground in Vermont startled him awake after eight hours of blissful sleep, he found himself less than satisfied with his results, or lack thereof. He rubbed his eyes as he made his way off the plane, making certain that Isis was close behind. He was in a foreign country now, and even though they spoke (a close variation of) the king’s English, thank God, he still didn’t want Isis running about all willy-nilly. This was America. They were liberal people. Even their conservatives were liberal. And with liberals about, Isis would have a sexual halcyon day. If Ra could put him on a leash, he would have.

The offending sign was (unfortunately) hard to miss, and Ra couldn’t help but cover his eyes and shake his head at the sight of it before coming over, his carry-on bag wheeling along right behind him. “Really, Sett?” He asked, quirking an eyebrow before clapping his brother on the shoulder and pulling him into a brotherly hug. He was now reunited with his second in command, and, piece by piece, he was starting to feel whole again. Seeing only Isis day in and day out could get frustrating. (Not that he minded, it was Isis.)

“Missed you. How are things?” He could have very well said ‘at ease, status report’. It was amazing that he had never joined the military.
