Alors On Danse (Janice)

One of the nice things about having other women her age to socialize with was the ability to go out dancing without worrying that your friends were going to peel off and go home with the flashy young men who lived at the clubs, trying desperately to impress the (largely inebriated) gaggles of sexy, scantily clad women who stumbled into them.

Tsukiko was probably one of the only women in the club who wasn't wearing neon having instead opted for black, black and more black. She also was showing far less skin than the rest, but she also wasn't trying to snag a man; after all, she had Rome, and she was quite happy with him, geeky as he was.

Still, she loved dancing, had loved it since her school days as a cheerleader, and she had been thrilled when Janice had agreed to go out with her.

The music was loud and obnoxious (she could easily identify the group as Far East Movement) and perfect for the gyrating and booty shaking that passed for dancing among her generation.

She looped one arm over Janice's shoulder, cocktail in the other hand. "I feel like I'm seventeen again." She giggled, scanning the dance floor for a free spot. There weren't that many; they would probably have to force their way in.

Janice wasn't really interested in picking up a man tonight. Mostly because man-picking-up was hard and Janice was off of work, and didn't really feel like doing more work. That would be stupid. That, and she was almost too old for this nonsense of picking up hot, drunk guys in clubs. It just felt a little silly to her now. Ah well. Such was life. She wasn't too upset by it, however, because she greatly preferred hanging out with Kiko. She was just so cute. And dancing. Dancing was very fun and Janice wasn't all that bad at it.

Unfortunately, she was not bedecked in neon because she didn't have any neon, which she felt was quite the shame. Even more unfortunate was the fact that she couldn't even steal clothes from Kiko. She was one of the few women smaller than Janice. She looked like a stiff breeze could knock her over.

She grinned at her friend's giggly comment. "I know, right? It's so funny." She joined Kiko in scanning the dance floor, "So should we jump into the fray or are we taking a breather?"

"Jump in, for sure!" Kiko grinned, tipping back her cocktail and taking a very unladylike gulp before pulling the other woman out onto the floor with her.

So many of the other club goers were younger, hotter, more glamorously decked out -- and that included the men. She had this feeling that even had she wanted to pick any of the men up they wouldn't be interested in either her or Janice; she was so lucky she'd snagged Rome when she had, otherwise the lack of straight men in Pilot Ridge might have gotten to her.

"Out of our way, here we come!" She announced, elbowing people out of their way as best she could, which really wasn't entirely effective considering how tiny she was: her elbows reached to most people's waists.

As they made their way onto the floor she did her best to do a combination of dancing, drinking, and dragging Janice with her that was far from sexy.

It was a good thing Rome wasn't here to witness that.

Janice laughed loudly as Kiko barreled her way through the crowd. "Yeah, make way!" She hollered (because when had Janice ever had a problem with being loud?), "Ladies on the dance floor!" She grinned, caught up in Kiko's goofy behaviour.

It wasn't as though Janice had to try hard to be unsexy. She was more of a loud and dorky type of a person anyways, so she joined Kiko in flailing about the dance floor, laughing at and with whoever seemed amused by the two of them.

"Oh, I forgot to ask!" Janice shouted over the music, "How's Romey? Are you two getting married yet?" Janice wasn't exactly the queen of tact and as far as she was concerned, Rome and Kiko should have been married already. Why this hadn't happened was beyond her. "Because if he doesn't get on the ball, I'm totally stealing you!" She grinned wickedly.

Kiko hopped and shook her way across the dance floor, disentangling herself from Janice only so that she could better drink her cocktail without dumping it all over some unfortunate soul who got in their way.

"Ugh, no!" Kiko would have agreed that she and Rome ought to have been married already; they'd been dating long enough, and they were both adults. It wasn't like they were young and they both knew they were going to be together, there was no question about that. Her boyfriend just was slow.

"He hasn't even asked!" She rolled her eyes at his folly. "I'm thinking about picking out my own ring and asking him."

Her parents would be horrified, but she was a fan of whatever worked over tradition. "What about you? Any boyfriend lately? Cute celebrity crush you're going to kidnap and marry? Or are you still stuck on me?" She batted her eyelashes at the other woman teasingly.

"What? He's so dumb." Janice rolled her eyes as well, unimpressed with Rome's slowness, "What's he waiting for? An engraved invitation? An intervention? Jeeze..." She didn't see what the problem was; Kiko and Rome were adorable, they clearly loved each other, they'd been together for a long time. As far as she could see, the marriage would really just be a formality at that point. And something for the parents, she supposed.

"Hey, whatever works, right?" She shook her head, "Oh Rome. How long have you guys been dating, anyways?" As far as Janice could remember, those two had been dating for years. Dummy.

Janice laughed, "Unrequited love is the hardest of loves. That and George Clooney won't return my calls." She laughed again, "But girl, once you two dummies finally get married, I better get a shiny invite to that wedding." She gave Kiko a mock-threatening look, which was nowhere near as intimidating as her real one.

Kiko shook her head in despair. "I don't even know! He's probably waiting for a quest icon to appear above my head." If Rome had the same ability as his friend James then that was probably exactly what would have happened, too.

"And we've been together forever." Years. Since she began her residency and met him and decided that he would be hers. She was too lazy to do anything remotely like counting, not while they were in the middle of dancing and her brain was addled by cocktail.

The song switched to the new, extremely dirty Rihanna song, and she squealed an "I love this song!" Before turning her attention back to the prospect of a wedding, "If Rome and I get married then you know that you're obligated to be a bridesmaid. You and Yulia. And Hinata and Hoshimi." Her sisters would murder her if she pushed them out for friends.

"Oh, that Clooney." She laughed, nearly tripping on heels quite a bit higher than she normally wore, and grabbing onto Janice's arm for support. "So dreamy, but a total flake about returning calls. Maybe there's someone closer to home..."

Maybe Rome knew some nice, straight man she could set Janice up with. He would probably play World of Warcraft into the wee hours of the night, but if she could put up with that then so could her friend.

Janice cracked up at the mention of a quest icon. "Maybe you should make a paper one, just hang it over your head and see if he gets it." She giggled again, now at the stage where everything was kind of hilarious.

Janice tilted her head to hear the song, "I don't think I've heard this one yet! But I love Rihanna!" She grinned at Kiko's reassurance that she'd get to be a bridesmaid, "Sweeeet~ I will totally hold you to that." She assured her friend, as serious as she could get. She loved weddings! And they were especially nice with people she cared about.

She quickly steadied Kiko as she stumbled, then proceeded to giggle about it. Yup. Everything was starting to get hilarious. Wheee~

"Hah!" Janice laughed, "D'you think Rome knows real, live straight guys? That would be fabulous." She grinned.

The idea of creating a fake quest icon and hanging it above her head was actually hysterical to Kiko (maybe that cocktail was a bit too strong) and she began to laugh loudly at the thought. "Yes! That is a fantastic idea! I'll try it and let you know how it goes." She agreed giddily. This was what friends were for, suggesting better ideas than the ones you had yourself.

She had to stop dancing for a moment as her brain processed the idea of straight men in Pilot Ridge. "Hmm....I'm sure he has to know someone straight."

Sure, his best friend was gay, but surely there were some other straight men around. And surely Rome must know at least one or two of them. Or so she assumed. There were a few at the hospital, but she wasn't sure how well Janice would get along with any of them. "I'll ask him." She decided. If she could set up all her girlfriends then she would be thrilled; there was no reason that Janice and Yulia and Kateri were all single, except the lack of available men.

Janice cackled. "Oh excellent. You should take a picture of his reaction. I bet it's great." She giggled again, her dancing clumsy. Janice was happy to help a friend, even if it was in the most ridiculous way possible. That just made it more fun.

"I mean, they have to exist somewhere," Janice whined, putting on an exaggerated pout, "It's weird. And a major bummer." It was a little disheartening that her big brother would have more luck getting a man in this little town than she did, and he wasn't even looking! Well, not at the moment, since Stephen decided to split. Stupid Stephen. But the fact remained that Janice would kinda like a boyfriend sometimes. And yet.

She grinned widely, "Oh, that would be great. Who knows? Maybe they're all just hiding somewhere."

"I'll run the webcam all secret like, he'll never know I'm recording his reaction." Kiko promised solemnly. Actually, capturing his response on film hadn't crossed her mind until Janice brought it up, but she couldn't deny that it was a good idea. Definitely worth doing; then when they had children she would be sure to show them and laugh.

"Right? They have to exist somewhere!" She agreed. There were none at this club, as far as she could tell, but who knew? "I actually met one the other day, even, but Roselyn snagged him before I could even think of setting him up with anyone."

Roselyn was a sweetie, though; she deserved a date just as much as Janice did. Besides, she wasn't really sure if Vincent would have been Janice's type. He was hot beyond belief, and nice enough, but he wasn't sure if his macho act and Janice's loudness would have meshed all that well.

"But I shall find the rest of them, and then I shall force them on dates with you."

Because that was what friends were for.
