Suggestions for Hammel Documentation

Hey Hammelites!

The staff and I have been considering doing a revamp of our site documentation, overhauling the rules, plot, FAQ, joining guide, powers information, and so forth. We want to make it clearer and easier for newcomers and old members alike to create characters and plot in the Hammel universe.

We do not plan on changing any major policies at this time. We just want to make the rules and documentation clearer. We do not have a timeline yet of when this overhaul will take place, but we will not put the site into maintenance mode when this is rolled out.

If you have any suggestions for this project, please post in this thread or PM someone on staff. We want your input to make Hammel a welcoming, easy-to-navigate game.

Tony, this isn't a suggestion, but if you need copies made of anything or any sort of non-staff help: making lists, helping with lists, having another backup, looking for something on the Internet for you, whatever you need, I consider it the least I can do for the people who keep this game running and have provided me countless hours of free entertainment over the years.

Something about the school layout might be nice. Like which buildings are attached to which.

Meta laws! What are the legalities surrounding the use of meta powers? Obviously Hammel itself is something of a special case, since you have a bunch of untrained kiddos running around. But out in the real world, where metas are assumed to be able to control their powers, what can they do?

Obviously, a pyro lighting someone on fire would be illegal, and anything else that counts as assault. But what about the more subtle powers? Is consent required for someone to use their powers on you? Are there privacy laws surrounding powers like tracking and telepathy? Powers that are involuntary? If laws are broken, are metas fined, sued or arrested? Inquiring minds want to know.

More suggestions! On the Who Plays Whom Player Directory page, it would be SUPER convenient if there was a link to each character's application next to their name. Like

I often want to take a look at one user's characters specifically, and if they don't happen to have a plotter the directory lets me see who they all are, but then I have to look them up manually which can be super time consuming! This would obviously be another step to the monthly activity checks and might be too much to manage, but if everyone made sure their own were accurate I think it would work, and like I said, it would be super convenient for plotting.

It would be lovely to have a map or layout of the school. Same with dormitories: what the setup is, what the rooms look like, etc. Pictures or floor plans would be cool, but that may be too much work.
