36 - Cellular regeneration - Computer literacy & programming teacher for the past 5 years

Duncan is very curious and easily distracted (unless the topic is interesting). He likes teaching, learning, programming, hiking, rock climbing, tree climbing, taking things apart/tinkering, lockpicking, sneaking, and especially exploring anywhere he's never been. Oddly, he hates music. Also anything like sugar, caffeine, alcohol, and anything worse.

Students:
Duncan loves curious students. He doesn't have patience for kids who don't want to learn, and he's perfectly willing to let them fail. Occasionally, if a student acts like they know more than him or other students, he'll ask them questions upon questions until they mess up somewhere. Or he gets bored. 

Teachers:
Duncan likes other teachers, and wonders what makes them tick. He's spent years around them but still doesn't get it. I don't have any specifics for his relationships with other teachers yet.

Outdoorsies:
Duncan may have met you outdoor-liking people on a hiking trail or a rock climbing gym or similar.

Other ideas:
Who is that guy squatting in a tree watching everyone? It's Duncan.
Who is this guy who just wandered into your conversation uninvited? It's Duncan.

Wayne Dietrich - Wayne's one of the school recruiters and occasionally substitutes for the foreign language teachers. He's not much for computers, but he did engineer his own clockwork arm and leg after they were amputated over forty years ago. He likes to tinker, and though he likes to think of himself as a grumpy old man he's actually quite pleasant.

Navi Holmes - Navi is a computer geek raised by a software designer. She can be a bit of a know-it-all, but she means well and likes to help out. She's thirteen, and her power allows her to basically become a program inside a computer. (Since I don't know a ton about computers myself, threads with her may take a day or two to respond to while I look up pertinent information.)

Ooo they both sound fun! Navi sound like a blast (and I can help you with some information if need be; I went to a different Vermont school for a different computer-related major, and I dislike programming itself, but it's still something Duncan and I have in common.) although I/he might be a hassle since he would have nothing but questions on how it works and what it's like.

Duncan would also absolutely love to see Wayne's limbs, but I'll research how they'd meet when I'm not multitasking.

I have a girl who I think might have an interesting friends?ish relationship with Duncan - Molly Kingsley. She's a technopath, and would totally love playing video games with him, but she also cannot stand the outdoors and drinks to overcome her social anxiety. She also is one of the founding members of the Pilot Ridge gaming group (primarily board games and RPGs) and works in the Hammel research labs. Lemme know if you're interested! XD Sounds like fun! Molly refuses to take full authority over the group, since she's shit at being authoritative, but she does most of the planning behind the scenes. She also hangs flyers up at Hammel to encourage other gamers (both students and faculty) to take part in the group. I may post an open gaming group thread and let people have at it XD

I have a whole one character, Joshua Bernstein. He's a local attorney, romantically entangled with Mr. Valentine's coworker Dr. Neville. Josh will not think it is weird if Duncan just wanders into his conversation with someone else, or comes over to comment on the newspaper or something. because Josh would do the same thing.

Sean and Duncan would know each other. Sean is the psychiatrist at Hammel, and he has been since Duncan was a student. Sean is friendly, he likes coworkers, and he is the aforementioned Joshua Bernstein's partner. We should have them interact.

Dryope *: Josh looks like tons of fun. I'd love to see that, and I'd also love to see Duncan push/question him about being "too nice" as well. I'm not completely sure on how that would work, since I haven't actually read any of his threads to know exactly where the disconnect between "being nice" and "people thinking he's nice" would be. Duncan would also "poke" (question) at his idealism out of curiosity.

Dr. Sean Neville: Of course! I haven't contacted you yet because I assume you're busy with about a billion threads, haha. If I had more time, I'd brainstorm some ideas! I'll do that when I get home. So many possibilities!

haha uhhh I guess an easier explanation is that Josh is easily manipulated through guilt.He has a difficult time, for instance, cutting toxic people out of his life because he feels mean doing so. And on the other hand, he can drop some casual classism/education level judgement and he just doesn't even realize what a jerk he's being.

Josh ran for office (and lost) the past Election Day and is planning to run again, so Duncan could always have heard him speak. Josh loves to talk about himself.

Or w/e we can combine with Josh and Sean, they would welcome Duncan over wherever they were.

Dryope *: Oh, that totally makes sense. If Duncan noticed that, he'd probably question it. The judgement thing, though, Duncan might not even notice. I'm pretty sure he has the same sort of prejudices.

Combining John, Duncan and Sean also makes sense. At the moment, the only thing I can think of is Duncan coming over for dinner with the two of them. There are probably other great ideas too that I can't think of right now.
