I Am Not Cleaning This Up

Sawyer was bubbling over with excitement for the stunt she was about to pull. It was lame by any means, especially since she ripped it right out of a really old teen chick flick but it was going to be completely hilarious once it actually happened. She should have asked Lucy to come along but the ink manipulator would probably see it as lame. And besides, her other partner in crime was just literally two doors down.

She knocked on the girl's door repeatedly, practically trying to bust it down.

When the door eventually opened, Sawyer didn't waste any time over pleasantries as she went right down to the nitty gritty.

"Okay so the idea is to get these bags of powdered food dye into the sprinkler system. I think it has a timer so all we have to do is just set it to a time we know everyone is around the quad and bam. Whaddya say?"

Alex had her headphones around her neck, playing one of the audio books she needed to study for class through them. She had her eyes closed as she tried to focus on it, determined to get through it this time. She'd been having a difficult time with the lesson, and so this was the third time she'd listened to it. She felt like this time she was getting more out of it though. It was about time, too, she was getting tired of listening to the same words over and over again.

Then, there was a pounding on her door. She started, putting her hands to her ears to try and soften the racket. She quickly determined the noise wasn't due to a dangerous situation, because of the lack of screaming, as well as the excited beat of the knocker's heart. Excited beat... So something was going on, even if not dangerous. Curiosity piqued, she turned off her audio book, called out that she was coming, and bounded to the door. She opened it to a sudden explanation of a planned prank by Sawyer, one of her better partners in crime. Really, put pranksters in the same dorm room and what were people supposed to expect?

Yes, a prank. Much more interesting than her lesson, that much was sure. She grinned. Yes, her lesson could wait-- she was totally in for something more active. "Sounds good to me!" she said, grabbing for the jacket she always kept slung over the back of her desk chair. "I'm totally in! You know where the sprinkler system's water supply is at?"

"Do I know it." Sawyer scoffed and waved a dismissive hand, sometimes forgetting Alex couldn't actually see. "I'll need you to be the look out." She responded before hitting her forehead. "You know what I mean." She waved her hand dismissively again, knowing Alex wouldn't take offense from Sawyer's unfortunate phrasing.

Sawyer slung an arm around Alex after announcing she was going to do so, pulling the other girl out of the room and towards where the sprinkler system was. "It's late enough that the guards probably won't be doing their rounds yet so we'll have a lot of time to get there undetected. But you'll have to keep your ears to the ground and whatnot." Sawyer nodded, looking around to see that they weren't noticed.

They approached the steam room soon enough and Sawyer picked at the lock and tugged Alex in. "Can you hear over the generators?" Sawyer asked as she moved around the place expertly to find the sprinkler system.

Alex grinned a bit. Lookout. Yep, she made a good lookout-- sometimes better than people who could actually see, since she could often hear people way before people could see them. So she was perfectly comfortable, if not proud, of the title of "lookout". She strolled out alongside Sawyer. At first she'd found Sawyer's easygoing physical contact to be odd, but it hadn't taken long to become used to it. Some people just expressed themselves that way, and there was nothing wrong with that in Alex's opinion.

As they entered the steam room, Alex frowned a bit at the sound of the generators. "I can hear over them," she stated. She'd just have to filter their noise so she could focus on any new sounds that signaled the approach of a guard or someone. "We're clear for now," she said as she accomplished the filtering. Just to be safe, she pulled a pen from her pocket and clicked it a few times, sending a few clear soundwaves out to judge the area. Yeah, they were safe.

She stuck close to Sawyer as she searched for the sprinkler system, grinning somewhat as she did. This would be fun. "Find it yet?" she whispered, barely audible above the generators.

"Righteous." She grinned widely when Alex confirmed that she could definitely hear over the noise. It was pretty important that she could, clearly.

Finding the sprinkler system in no time, Sawyer took hold of Alex's hand so the girl didn't roam into any obstacles.

"Yeah, right here. Okay. You do your thing and I'll do mine." Sawyer grinned and turned Alex around so she could hear better. She took out the bag of food colouring she had procured earlier in the week and started to uncork the water faucet that connected the water to the sprinkler system. Dumping the whole bag in, she laughed at what could quite possibly be the most entertaining thing she would witness once the sprinklers turned on when everybody was around.

Once the bag was empty, she screwed the top back down and went to the sprinkler timer, punching in the time intervals so it would occur at certain times she knew the students would be out and about.

"Man, I wish you could see what could happen, dude. Everyone drenched in food dye, I mean...man."

Alex definitely didn't mind the extra help navigating the steam room. With so many vibrations bouncing around, she didn't trust herself to not slip up and run into a pole or something embarrassing like that. However, once they were standing still again, things would be easier.

As Sawyer turned her around to hear better, Alex did brush her off a little, with an insistent, "I've got it". She wasn't annoyed, of course. She'd gotten used to having to clearly tell her friends when she could fend for herself when they got a little too fussy. Friends who got too fussy were way better than strangers who got too fussy. Strangers who got fussy she got irritated with a lot faster.

Alex listened closely to the room, working the extra effort of filtering out the generators. She heard Saywer uncork the faucet, dump the color in, and press buttons on what she assumed was the timer. She nodded when Saywer spoke. "I'll be able to hear them though." She snickered. "What color is the dye?" Though she didn't know her colors, she did have them associated with different things. Grass was green, as were leaves and broccoli. The sky was blue, and the sun was red. Though they had no direct meaning for her mental pictures, she could ascribe them associations at least.

She tilted her head to the side as she thought she heard a stray footstep not belonging to Sawyer, and dropped her voice to a whisper, raising a finger to her lips as she did. "I think someone's coming."

"Course you do." Sawyer nodded, leaving the girl to her own devices, completely trusting that she really did have 'this'. She'd spent her life with the disability, there was no way she couldn't not have 'this'.

At the other girl's question, Sawyer was pocketing the plastic bag as she answered. "Green. It's supposed to be neon green but I'd be happy with just normal green." She shrugged with a grin.

Straightening up when Alex mentioned that someone was approaching, Sawyer breathed a sigh of relief that she was already done anyway. But the person who just got in could potentially be blocking their only way out.

"Can you tell me where they're coming from and where they're heading?" She whispered, slipping her hand into Alex's so she could yank at it if they have to move.

Green. Like grass and trees then. And sick faces. Alex grinned. And neon.... like signs in front of bars that were trying to get a lot of attention. That one was harder to relate to. Still, it was unnatural for normal water, so it would be great. She could just imagine the squeals as students were surprised by the dyed green water. Hopefully it wouldn't stain anything... she liked pranks but ones that weren't permanently damaging.

She bit her lip and jutted her head forward slightly, trying her hardest to exactly pinpoint the other person over the vibrations of the generators. "He's heading toward the door, I think," she whispered. "Over there." She waved a hand in the general direction the mystery person was coming from. Darn the noise. Just because she could filter out certain noises didn't mean it was easy to keep up. And vibrations were more difficult to filter through. However, she was pretty darn sure she had spoken accurately about the person's position.

The steam room was a little dark so Sawyer couldn't really see where Alex was pointing. But soon enough, she could hear the footsteps coming and she knew she had to do something to throw them off.

So she did the only thing she knew to do.

"Help!" A squeak came from the far left of them, courtesy of her voice throwing. If the person was approaching, they would have heard the cry for help coming from their right, which would make them run the opposite direction of them and further away from their exit.

"Okay, we're gonna have to gun it." Sawyer whispered, tapping the other girl's hand. "Let me know if the person's running in the other direction."

Perfect. Alex grinned. Once again, Sawyer's power was helpful. Really, they were a good team: Alex could alert about incoming problems, and Sawyer could fix the incoming problem before it could become a problem. This was one of the reasons she liked doing pranks with her. That, and Sawyer was a good sport.

"Okay, he's going!" she whispered as loud as she dared before hurrying for the door, not quite as fast as she would have liked, but the generators were interfering. She was prepared for Sawyer to grab her hand for the extra guidance, just in case, but wasn't going to wait. She'd been fending for herself during pranks for a long time, which had gotten her into a lot of trouble when she first started.

As she bounded through the steam room door, she felt like shouting for joy at the clarity of the sounds and soundwaves. Easy echolocation, how I've missed you. Of course, there was no way she was going to actually shout, so she gave a wide grin instead, and picked up her pace to a sprint since she could now actually "see" the layout of her surroundings.

Sawyer did a small victory dance at the good news Alex gave. With the potential problem now solved, the girls were able to get to the exit with ease.

In the middle of the running, Sawyer felt herself letting Alex guide her instead of the other way around. She found herself trusting her partner in crime despite her actually having the ability to see herself. It was such an unconscious thing that when they were outside finally, Sawyer felt surprise creeping up on her.

And then the adrenaline rush kicked in and she jumped as high as she could, jostling Alex in the process.

"Holy shit what a rush. I think we should get to a vantage point so the water works can happen without us being part of it. Whaddya say?" she asked Alex, though she was already jumping in the direction of the corridors, in search of the staircase that would lead them to the classes. She knew which one had a view of the quad so all they needed to do was get there. Within ten minutes which is when the timer was set.

Alex grinned as Sawyer jumped, and indulged in a bounce herself, though not quite as dramatic a one as her friend's. However, she found another outlet for her adrenaline as Sawyer bounded for the corridors, and she followed just as quickly. "Let's do it! Lead the way!"

She let Sawyer take the lead this time, figuring it would make more sense for her to pick the spot since she was going to be the one actually watching the antics. Alex would probably enjoy them just the same no matter where they ended up. Startled yells could be deciphered perfectly well so long as they were in some sort of earshot, and most windows around here could be opened. If not, hey, she could always get Sawyer to explain exactly what was going on!

Up the stairs they bounded, Alex almost breathless from the excitement and eagerness to make it to their vantage point before the time was up. Sure, ten minutes was technically all the time in the world, but time always flew when there was a deadline.

"Totally." Sawyer responded enthusiastically as she sped off to the stairs.

Once they were at a vantage point, Sawyer looked over the ledge, waiting to admire her work. With Alex by her side, her excitement just doubled. It was a lot more exciting doing stupid stuff with someone who liked doing it than doing it alone.

"I would be so disappointed if people don't immediately point out to me when it finally happens." Sawyer chuckled, propping her chin up in her palm as she looked down at the future crime scene.

"Look at all of them, so oblivious."

Alex bounded after Sawyer, staying close behind as she followed. When they reached the vantage point, her heart was pounding just as much from exertion as excitement. She leaned against the ledge next to Sawyer and grinned. "You don't have any of the color on your fingers, do you?" she asked. Just because she couldn't see didn't mean she wasn't about details. Being pointed out because of a prank was one thing, being caught was another. You couldn't get in trouble for getting pointed at. Actually, it was sort've hilarious when people knew you did it, but couldn't prove it. Especially when it was people she didn't like.

"So oblivious... Makes you almost feel sorry for them." She snickered. Not. She just couldn't wait to hear their reactions. "Should be soon, right?" she asked, tilting her head a little. She was pretty sure it'd almost been ten minutes. Her hunch ended up being right, too. She caught sound of the sprinklers starting, and started cries from the "poor, poor" students.

Checking herself, it didn't look like she had gotten any of it on her but who knows if some of it had gotten to her face. She tried looking for a reflective surface but found none so she shrugged and let it go. If she was found out, it didn't really matter. This was going to be her last year and if she had to go out forcefully, she was going out with a bang.

"Nope." She reassured Alex before peeking againout the window to see how many were going to be targets of the very not poisonous food dye she had gotten into the sprinklers.

Sawyer chuckled before realising they weren't alone. It was a small freshman who looked suspicious of the two but a raised eyebrow from her and a jerk of her body made the little one scamper off helter skelter.

She looked at her phone for the time and was about to nod when the sounds of reactions from downstairs answered for her. "Yeup." She stood up straight and looked out the gaping window at the sight of all the students in the courtyard running around like mad trying to get away from the green water.

"Oh my God that is glorious." She scrambled to get her phone out, choosing the video option and recording everything.

"I should have done this earlier." She chuckled, clutching her stomach.
