Oh the Horror!! (Open)

Maud sat in the dark in the middle of the stage with her laptop bestled in her lap, the old muffled trumpets of a black and white film echoing eerily through the auditorium.

It was about midnight. The school was silent, Nosferatu was on the prowl.

The teen crossed her pajama'd legs and slumps as she watches the silent film play out, her enormous shirt hanging off her small frame like a sail. She scribbled on tiny sheets of note book paper skinny creatures with twisted smiles and sharp claws and long tails... Scary things were what she drew best... But Maud was afraid of the dark...

Why would someone who was afraid of the dark watch horror movies? Draw 'scary' things in the dead of night? Because horror movies are works of art, obviously. And art went hand in hand with art (duh). So why not join in on this creepy little fiesta? Hell... Might be a little fun learning about the Dark Side!

Leo was restless that night. After tossing and turning for at least an hour, he gave up. He wasn't going to get any sleep that night. Instead of just spending the hours before morning in his room, Leo decided to go for a walk instead. After slipping on his sneakers and grabbing a sweater, the student headed out.

He was glad that he brought a sweater the second he exited the building. The air was crisp and the campus was beautiful at night. Leo stopped to take a picture of a particularly beautiful scene that he was planning on drawing later. As he came closer to the main school building, the boy realized he had the opportunity to cross an item off of his bucket list: go into the school at night. After looking around for any potential witnesses, Leo headed for the door. Since it was the main entrance, he wasn't surprised that it was locked. He started walking around building looking for another potential entryway.

After checking a few other doors, Leo came to the auditorium. The door that lead to the actual stage was slightly ajar. The boy was a bit hesitant at first about whether entering was a good idea. He decided to just hope for the best and went in. Using his phone as a flashlight, he wandered around occasionally tripping on a prop or bumbling into a folding chair. As he peaked around a curtain, he noticed the familiar glow of a laptop screen. He slowly crept forward and the outline of a girl came into view "Hello?" he tried to say it calmly so he wouldn't scare her.

As if on que, the picture of a young woman on the scream pretending to scream appeared, black and white letters appeared 'NOSFERTU!' And the picture of the old timey vampie appeared.

The girl flails in suprise, scrambling to hide the pictures though one manages to wriggle free of her panicked struggle," Ha-ha-hello!" She shrieks/squeaks, grinning innocently

Leo felt pretty bad for startling the girl. But what was she doing here? He picked up a piece a paper that was on the floor. It was a drawing. A creepy, but well drawn, picture of a lanky creature filled the sheet of notebook paper. He examined and admired it for a bit before asking: "Is this yours? It's really cool. I draw too you know." He sat down next to her on the stage.

As they sat in silence for a bit, Leo realized what a weird scene this was. He was sitting in the pitch black auditorium in the dead of night with a girl he didn't even the name of. They were watching some silent horror movie surrounded by loose paper covered in sketches of eery monsters. The boy liked it though. It was something different.

"So. Who are you?"

" I'm Maud," she answers quietly, staring down at the silent film for a moment, her gaze flickering with almost mouse-like activity. She purses her lips and stares at him for a moment. Maud was doing what one of her Seven Faces was very good at... Rippingpeople apart cell by cell and putting them back together for what they really were," Who're you?" She asks in a strangely low but calming voice

"Maud. That name seems to really fit you." Leo didn't really know what to say next. Should he ask her what she likes to do or address the fact that they had both broken into the school. He decided on the latter. "How often do you come here? It's my first time but I'm loving the adrenaline rush of breaking the rules. I almost kind of want to get caught. Is that weird?" He turned to Maud awaiting an answer.

She smiles and shakes her head," I always sit here, waiting for a security guard to open the door, I go back stage and pretend to be a ghost," she looks into the inky blackness," You know those rumors about the 'Auditorium Ghost'?" She spreads her arms in a 'ta da' motion and smirks slightly... And just seconds ago it seemed impossible to crack her out of her shell-

" But what's your name?"

Leo stared wide-eyed at Maud. "You're the Auditorium ghost?!" He was genuinely surprised. "No offense but you don't really seem like the sort of person to do that kind of thing. You seem a bit too... a bit too shy. Not that there's anything wrong with that!" he quickly added in. Leo didn't want to offend the girl since she seemed so nice. "I like shy girls." Fuck. Now he probably seemed like he was flirting. He was messing up any chances he had of befriending her.

"Oh! I totally forgot to mention my name. I'm Leo." He stuck out his so he could shake hers.

She shakes his hand, pulling him foreward suddenly and patting his head like one would a puppy," Stop trying so hard, but yeah... The first time I meet people all I wanna do is sink into a hole in the ground... Except when it's dark like this," she motions around them, the eerie light of the silent film lighting up her features in an almost surreal manner, the tiny creatures on paper seeming to wobble as if alive. She shrugs and chirps," All the 'ghostly' stuff, the happens when I get bored or my power decides to flare a bit... Ya know, crud like that,"

"So I'm assuming since no one has ever actually seen the ghost, your power isn't illusions or anything like that. Let's see... then the most logical answer would probably be aerokinesis. Am I right?" Leo said while keeping his eyes glued on his hands. For some reason, he wanted to avoid looking her in the eyes as much as possible. Even though he's an empath, the boy can never seem to figure out his own emotions.

He needed to keep himself occupied so he grabbed one of the blank scraps of paper and a pencil and started drawing. Leo decided to take a crack at drawing his own monster. It's body shape was similar to the one that Maud had drawn. After doing a bit of shading, Leo slid the sketch towards the girl. "You like it?" he asked, still not making eye contact.

Maud smiles and nods, humming," You got Aero right," she picks up the picture, looking at it then at him,"... Is this a monster you saw or one in your head?" She puts it on the ground again and hugs her knees to her chest," Uhm... The reason I draw creatires like this isn't because I want someone to like them, it's because these are little bits of my crazy being filtered out-" she pauses,"- safely," she pushes the paper toward him again," Try drawing your little bit of crazy."

Leo nodded. He never really thought about why he liked to draw before. Maybe it was to get out all of his crazy. He picked up a new piece of paper and started to sketch. The boy had no idea what he was drawing but he just kept going. Leo would just continue moving his pencil around until he felt he was done. Gradually, a picture started to form. At first it confused him. It was a couple sitting on a bench, holding hands. "Huh." he said. "What is my brain trying to tell me?"

" Dunno," she shrugs and hugs her knees," But I have to draw," Maud smiles slightly," Or else i'd probably tears the atmosphere apart, kill everybody," She laughs lightly," Probably shouldn'ta said that."
