An inevitable side effect of a serious campaign for town council was that his name and face were plastered everywhere. Signs dotted the sides of roads and the lawns of supporters; fliers were posted on telephone poles and bulletin boards in any business that had one. His voice could be heard on radio spots.
He was determined to make his campaign impossible for anyone to miss this year, and so he was, of course, delighted when a young Hammel student contacted him for an interview. A school assignment, she had said, but the fact that she had asked him meant that his ambitions to be recognized were bearing some fruit. Whether that fruit would lead to a win had yet to be seen, but he felt that this was a good start.
He had arranged to meet her at the Bubblebeam Tea Shop after work. Already a crowd was forming, predominantly made up of the students who seemed to be everywhere in Pilot Ridge. He sipped on his drink as he waited, watching for her to come through the door. He'd already told her what he would be wearing, but his grey suit and blue checked tie stood out in the crowd of casually dressed students.
