Some people didn't believe in fate. Or destiny. Or predestination. Or anything weird and supernatural like that.
Alex liked to say she was one of those people. However, when life happened, she needed something to get angry at other than everyone around her.
So despite the fact that just a day earlier she had denied the existence of any such things, she was mentally cursing out whatever, or whoever, dictated the course of her life. Namely, her power. Because this was just ridiculous.
Just a few years ago, she'd woken up being able to locate things via soundwaves and echoes, and enhanced hearing to boot. It had been a headache, literally, to learn to master, but once she had, it was glorious. She didn't have anymore of those days where she wished she could see, because she could function pretty much like a normal, seeing, person.
But no.... Now that ability had been ripped away from her. And she would be darned if whatever, or whoever, was responsible, was going to get away with it.
Even before she'd manifested, she'd adjusted fairly well to being blind, but over the years, she'd learned to rely on her echolocation and hearing. So much so that it felt as if she had just now gone blind. That morning. For real.
She'd sorely wanted to just hide in her room the entire day. Perhaps the entire week... or month... but if she wanted to keep her grades in order, that would be impossible. So, she'd forced herself to get up, fumble into clothes, and make her way to the classrooms.
Class was out now, she'd suffered through them like a loyal student, but her power still wasn't back. She'd had a hell of a time concentrating, too, and had a headache coming on as if she were using a power. But she wasn't, was she?
Eh. She didn't know. What she did know, was that she just wanted to find someone, and find out what the heck was going on so she could get fixed and be able to go down the hall like a normal person-- not having to keep a hand on the wall constantly, as well as barely resist the urge to walk with her other hand outstretched to keep from running into anything. It didn't seem to matter that she had the school's floorplan memorized. She was too freaked out for that.
Her disorientation and frustration, combined with her now very real blindness and her quick pace, made what happened next inevitable.
Her foot caught on something, presumably someone's backpack, or someone sitting in the hall even, and she was sent tripping forward into blackness.
((OOC: Genesis' swap power is Power Augmentation, just fyi, since that's a power that could effect your charrie))
