Gah!

Why did they have to have cheerleading practice? Football season was well over with, at least Glads thought it was. He wasn't much for actually paying attention to that. It bored him actually. Being around friends and lots of people cheering and yelling, now that was fun. Plus, this was a major challenge for him in a few ways. One, it was not something he'd ever thought he'd do, and two...well..that mainly had to do with the uniform. At first he thought it would be a big fuss over the fact he wanted to wear the girls uniform, but he was happily surprised no one did. At least not at Hammel. Not that he cared what any other school had to say.

Granted he didn't wear the uniform to practice. It seemed a bit impractical to him. So he had shown up in some very boring work out gear. Seemed silly to have clothes to work out in, but he figured there was a good reason. Even if practice was over. As he plopped down in the grass, he glanced around at his fellow Pom-Pom shakers. It was odd that he knew their names but didn't really know any of them. Well, something had to be done about that, and soon.

Thinking for a moment, he eyed the group and waved at one of the girls nearest to him. He didn't really pick someone at random. It was a pretty blonde girl named Carleigh that he was waving to as he stood and jogged over to her. The little he knew about, she seemed pretty cool. Plus she never seemed to be without a cup of coffee on her person, and that was a definite plus.

"Heya Carleigh!" Glads beamed as he trotted up to the girl. "Was wonderin' if ya'd like to hang out now that practice is over?"

Practice practice practice. It was important to keep up during the off season, according to both the coach and Carleigh. If they stopped, then when the time came around again, everyone would be out of practice. There were no sports to cheer for currently, but as cheerleaders they also had to maintain school spirit; which was surprisingly hard at Hammel. Everyone was apathetic and didn't want to be there.

Part of Carleigh was glad that she was graduating this year, but she knew she would also miss cheerleading as a hobby and the people she met during her time here. It was bittersweet to think about, so she tried not to dwell on it too long.

Practice was over now. Retying her hair, Carleigh stood near the other cheerleaders, chest heaving post workout. Blue eyes landed on someone sitting a little ways away, recognizing Glads as he waved and began making his way over. Waving back, Carleighn sent a smile in his direction as she stood a little further away from everyone else. Meeting Glads halfway. "Hey Glads!" She replied.

What he asked had been unexpected; normally, Carleigh rarely saw the other cheerleaders outside of practices and games. For someone who depended so heavily on interactions with other people, she had a very limited social circle. So, his offer was met with an excited "Yeah sure!"

She knew little about Glads; now was as good as ever. He seemed really nice, though. Enthusiastic and willing to talk to anyone. She remembered when he showed up wearing the traditional girl's uniform, which truthfully had thrown Carleigh off guard. But there was no judgement of the sorts from her end. "Anywhere in particular you want to go?" She didn't have her heart set on anywhere in particular. No plans; she was flexible to his ideas.

He smiled a little brighter (if that was even possible) as she returned his greeting. It was always nice to hear a friendly hello from time to time. Not that Glads didn't get those, but it was still nice. "Awesome." Glads replied at she agreed to hang out, it felt a little awkward to say and yet there it was. No going back on that word now. With a little chuckle, he bounced on his feet. "No where really, just thought maybe we could grab a cup of coffee and just hang." Now normally this probably would have sounded like a pick-up line and Glads really hoped it didn't.

It was a purely innocent suggestion. That and the only thing Glads knew for sure that people understood about him, was that...no one had ever seen him with a significant other. Male, female or otherwise. Now that he thought about it, he wondered if that alone seemed strange. He rarely ever thought of himself in ways like that, or how he looked to other people. It seemed a strange time to start now. Though there were a few things battling themselves out in his mind. That was the most likely source of the sudden minor insecurity.

"I mean, I guess I thought it'd just be cool to get to know ya." Another smile as his Georgian accent drawled out the words. "We do cheer together, which means long bus rides and such. Plus, you just seem pretty nice." Once again, all of this probably sounded like he was flirting. Which was totally not the case, in fact, he wondered if he really even knew how. He'd never really been given the opportunity to do so. With a soft little chuckle, he let his slight worries be known. "I..I'm not like hittin on ya or nothin'. Jus' bein' friendly. Or at least trying to come off that way."

Then it hit him as to why he felt awkward. Normally people came up and started talking to him, not the other way around. It wasn't uncommon for Glads to do so, but he had made most of his friends from them approaching him.

"I just hope you don't mind going out post practice." Carleigh told Glads, laughing to herself as she gestured to her shiny forehead and messy hair. Using the back of her arm, she wiped her forehead and tried to tame the last of the flyaways. Unless he wanted some time to change out of his workout gear; it didn't really matter to Carleigh. "But coffee sounds great!"

To Carleigh, she thought nothing of the offer; just two cheerleaders going out for a much needed caffeine boost post practice. Even if there had been underlying connotations to his offer, she likely would have missed it.

"Oh totally! It's a shame we haven't talked to each other sooner, you know?" Carleigh replied cheerfully. Well, they had talked sure but something more substantial than just a couple sentences here and there. "Or see each other outside of practice." Because she agreed; Glads did seem like a nice person to be around.

Her smile widened. "No, don't worry, you're fine." Carleigh assured him. "I.. I hadn't interpreted that way. All good." Just two people hanging out. "You have a place you want to go for coffee? We could just go to the caf or head down to the Velvet Tone if you've got the time."
