Midnight, thought Amber as she glanced down at the time on her phone. She took it out because she thought she felt it vibrate in her pocket. But, alas, she still had no message. Amber texted her brother four hours ago just to say hi. She didn't think it was crazy to expect her brother to be able to hold a normal and civil conversation with him, but Jonas left her with silence.
Amber obsessed over it. She had been checking her phone every few minutes in the hopes that her brother would finally start talking to her again. It was after about two hours that she came to the realization that she and Jonas had not spoken more than five words since she came to Hammel.
On her breaks she would go home expecting to see him, but he always found some way to avoid her existence. Her parents told her, 'give it time. He'll come around.' But Amber was sick of waiting. She didn't know if Jonas was angry that she accidentally, almost killed him or if he was jealous of her powers, but she didn't know how much more of his cold shoulder she could take.
In her anger and frustration, Amber took a bottle of whiskey out to the lake with her, got drunk, and was now throwing rocks into the lake to relieve stress. The drinker she got, the worse she felt, and the more she cried. She drove out to the lake, but in her current state driving home was out of the question.
Two hours at the lake and midnight finally struck. With tears on her face and a stone in her hand, Amber coiled back and threw the rock with all her might letting out a deep cry as the rock left her hand. In midair, she realized it was on fire. Great, just another sign that I'm losing control. The pyro then picked up her bottle and took another swig.
