Monsters in the ballroom [Serena]

Jay was never the going out type, but a certain someone had kind of urged him to get out more and well, she wasn't around anymore but that didn't mean he would break his promise. Shame he waited until it was Halloween to actually do something about his promise. He had been doing stuff for school a bit more than he should have and was ahead in pretty much everything by now so he had time to work on the control of his power a bit, which was now pretty close to perfect if he were to say so himself. Sadly he didn't though, because he knew that every power was different in some way, so while he knew other telekinetics they could do different things than he could, or there were other minor differences as to what they exactly could pick up, while Jay's limit to pick things up was tied to weight instead of size. So in a nutshell he had no idea what his limits were so he couldn't find them, but he did spend months trying.

Anyway, he found a Halloween party at one of his friends, which he pretty much lacked, and decided to go dressed as Magneto. Mainly due to his power and stuff, he could have two small metal balls hovering above his palm like he did in the movies. And it only took two fingers and a minimum amount of thought! Much like playing with a pen or a pencil if you're bored or have to wait on something, there were things Jay could use his power for without even being aware. Which in this case would be playing with a few metal balls hovering over his hand.

And it was an easy costume to pull off too. He could wear a hat so he wouldn't have to worry about his hair that much (though he still styled it in a way that would make sense for a young magneto) and he could just wear a suit. Or at least something mature and not too out there. The small pieces of metal were simple, he had those already and most people would mention Magneto just because of that.

So when he got there people did notice he was trying to be Magneto right off the bat and Jay managed to get past a few Draculas and a few skimpily clad nurses. Halloween at its finest. When he stepped into the room the party was taking place in he was instantly taken back by the amount of people there, already beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed so he decided to look up some place a bit more quiet. Maybe upstairs would do. Assuming there was no one making out in there.

Focusing on twirling the metal balls in his hand around he walked up the stairs, stepping around people as it seemed even the top floor held visitors. Not a party costs were skimmed on, obviously. ''Excuse me.'' He said as he almost bumped into a vampire making out with a Disney princess, to which he flicked his thumb forward to make one of the metal balls fly right in between the two of them as Jay passed them.

Taking the ball back in his hand he continued on when he suddenly tripped over a fold in the carpet right in front of some other people making out. Ashamed to have to do it he grabbed the shoulder of the man locking lips with the.. once more a nurse to keep himself standing up right, the balls falling to the floor though Jay was able to guide them to lay along the wall instead of pose risks for other people passing by as he apologized to a couple of very disturbed and angry faces as they instantly moved somewhere else.

Jay now needed to lean against the wall a bit as it seemed his ankle hurt quite a bit. He couldn't stand on it anymore. Seemed like his power wasn't all that perfect yet.

Halloween parties had always been entertaining when Serena was at Kocher...or at least that's what she was told. She never had ideas for a costume, so she usually didn't end up going. Besides, it usually resulted in her watching horror movies in-between making out with one of her nerdier friends. Much more fun.

But this was the year of Star Wars, and boy, did Serena have a fun idea. Even though she wasn't canon anymore, Serena decided she would be one of her favorite "Legends" Star Wars characters (ugh, it made her sad just thinking about it), the lovely red-headed ex-assassin Jedi Mara Jade.

She had started the costume with some friends' help at Kocher, and the last few weeks of October she had finished it. The costume hugged every curve of her body very tightly, and more than one Jedi at the party had tried to her "you will go upstairs with me", before she shot them down (once quite literally with her pretend pistol). Though she was very flirty, and she had even flirted a bit with some boys here, she just didn't want to go very far tonight.

The weirdest part of her costume for her was her hair though. She hadn't had dyed her hair a different color in almost a decade, and the red was very different. More than a few heads at school turned, and a boy she knew even asked if she was a new student.

She was considering ending her (mostly) enjoyable experiencce at the party, when she saw a Magneto-dressed boy (cool!) take a fall into a kissing couple. She was going to ignore it at first, but when she looked at him and saw him leaning against the wall, his face in pain, she quickly made her way over to him. "Hey Magneto, you okay?"

Things like this made it much more enjoyable to stay at home, if he was in a crowd he would just end up ruining someone else's evening and that was something he came there trying to avoid! He had not even been there for an hour and he had already caused two people to walk away from him. And on top of that he seemed to have hurt his ankle with his little show, after which he quickly looked around to try and see who else saw it.

Still propped up against the wall he did his best to make the tiny little balls fly into his hand again and he then figured he could just as well look cool while in pain, not that his pain was overwhelming or anything but it was enough to let other people know he was not having a fun time. Something people could probably interpret as something he was afraid of.

Then he noticed something red moving towards him, and as much as a reserved guy he was, red still made him lose his cool. He widened his eyes and one of the three balls in his hand shot into the ceiling as he saw the figure emerge. He really shouldn't have had that reaction to her, not without knowing what she wanted anyway. And he couldn't be even sure she was heading for him yet, so at this point Jay was just being stupid and foolishly harboring hope. He couldn't do anything with his ankle anyway.

One of his questions was answered when she called out for Magneto though, asking what was up with quite the smooth voice. Jay liked it.

He shook his head and smiled. ''No. I hurt my ankle.''

When Serena made her way toward "Magneto", she noticed a metal ball go flying (absurdly fast) into the ceiling. Either he went crazy detailed with his costume, or he had a power that made him at least similar to Magneto. Serena was impressed, even if it was probably a misfire.

"Ankle? Ouch..." Serena shifted her blaster holster slightly to the side and knelt down to look at it, gently pulling his sock, hoping he didn't mind. "It's swelling a little bit..." Serena knew more than enough about ankle injuries, ever since she was young. Standing back up, she said, "I think there's a couch that isn't getting used in next room..." Though she said it with concern, and obviously her thoughts were to getting him safely sitting, her brain was able to react quickly enough to add, "For your ankle. You know, rest."

Not that Magneto here was horrible to look at, and she was jealous of a witch she saw with a real cute guy who clearly seemed to regret he was already busy when Serena had walked by.

Pointing out the couch, she asked, "If you aren't good at hopping, you should probably let me help you. The last thing you want is to walk on it right now."

He almost held his breath when she knelt in front of him, a cute girl kneeling in front of him hadn't happened since- let's not get into that. But she was just looking at his ankle as she gave him the impression she knew stuff about it, which wasn't terribly bad as Jay had next to no knowledge about injuries. All he knew was that it hurt and to keep his weight off of it for the time being.

Looking up briefly though he saw the metal ball lodged in the ceiling come falling down and stopping only inches above the head inspecting him as it then shot back to the hand of the man. When she then got back to her feet and spoke about a couch not being used he felt a certain tingling go across his spine as he thought about what the other couches were used for. He could imagine anyway as he had passed enough people on them prior. When then girl mentioned they were getting used they were actually getting used.

Still he nodded and pushed himself off of the wall, keeping his balance on his healthy foot as he kept the other in the air and as stiff as possible to avoid any sudden movement. Resting would be good, even if it was certain that even that girl had something else in mind, and whether it was with someone else or not he didn't much mind as long as she knew that Jayson wouldn't just go out of his way for anyone. Or maybe he would, but not like that.

Right now wasn't the best time for self sacrifice anyway, with his ankle and all. It was still nice of this girl to offer her services even if Jayson wasn't yet quite sure of what they actually were.

''I'll hop. Just lead the way.''

He wasn't one to burden anyone, and for her to go out of her way to help him like she already had was a bit much, though not entirely unwanted.

"Well, quite the athlete then," Serena said teasingly, before beckoning for Magneto to follow her down the hall. As they moved, trying to avoid the few people who decided that the hallway was a great place to hang. Same people who would consider closets to be sexy places she supposed.

Then again, she wondered if there were any empty closets...

"So, you walk on that foot often, Mags, or you new to the whole party thing?" Serena said, making sure her voice was loud enough to be heard. Unfortunately that snuck a little of her accent in, but not enough to reduce the clarity.

When they reached the room, it was clearly a sitting room of some kind, with a piano, a couch and some chairs...chairs that were on the ground and a couch that had been overturned. Lifting any of those back up were not gonna happen with Serena's weak arms. "Uh...um..." Serena moved over to the piano and declared, "Have a seat!" Serena felt bad for promising a couch and giving a mediocre piano seat.

He nodded as he followed her down the hall, and while she wouldn't be able to see the nod it was enough for Jayson to at least know for himself that he responded to what she said, even if those reactions made him seem a bit arrogant.

People were all around as the party started to liven up a bit, there were really interesting costumes out there, it kind of made Jayson doubt his simple suit get-up. But then again, he wasn't one to strut around in a red metal helmet and weird ass bodysuit for easier recognition. People would know he was being Magneto due to the metal balls anyway.

''New to parties.'' Mentioning Rayne at that moment and that he was only there because she told him to was almost like telling her his mom did so, which she sure as hell was not.

Now he did feel like he should at least tell this girl he wasn't the biggest talker ever in case she hadn't figured it out by this point, he was actually being kind of shy but persevering due to her being the only one to talk to him. The only other people who did so were gone now.. Rayne, Katya and even Caelum. It was tough trying to keep a house like that standing up right, but over the months he had at least gotten used to the silence. Which was sad if you thought about it.

When they reached the room she was leading him to Jayson tried a smile, albeit weak, and looked around to see overturned chairs and an overturned couch. And a piano. His favorite.

His small smile turned into a grin though when she told him to take a seat on not the couch but the piano bench. That simply wouldn't do, and while Jay wasn't the kind of guy to tell people he wouldn't do something he knew that he had to contribute in some way. That and what he had in mind would help the one organizing this party in the long run.

So he took the metal balls in his hand and stretched it out towards the couch. There was no way that couch was too heavy for him, and what he could lift with his body he could lift with his mind. He just didn't know yet if he could use telekinesis on people. But he then focused on setting the couch up right and slowly but surely not to harm the floor or anything else nearby he flipped the couch so that he could sit on it.

''You were right, it wasn't being used.'' He said jokingly as he sat down on it.
