Evacuations (Trevor Wallace)

One of the more thrilling aspects of being a student at Hammel was the fact that occasionally someone lost control of their powers in class. If Sunar had still been attending school in San Jose then he wouldn't be standing outside in the snow at this particular moment in time, but the entire science hall had been evacuated because a pyrokinetic in one of the other classes had accidentally set her lab experiment on fire. 

Faculty were trained to handle this, of course, but in the meantime this meant anyone who had been in a science class was outside. 

Sunar hadn't even put his jacket back on before his class had been herded outside. As it was March in Vermont he sorely regretted this. He folded the tops of his sleeves over his hands, trying to create makeshift gloves. 

"Do you think the building will explode?" He asked Trevor, staring in the direction of the science labs.

For once, the beanie Trevor wore came in handy. In fact he'd almost left it behind in his room before noticing his hair was an absolute wreck and he was running behind. The hat was a simple solution that took basically zero time to make happen. Good enough for the day.

He didn't seem to much mind that they were outside in the snow, even without a jacket. He had a hat so his ears weren't very cold, though going from the warm school building to the cold outside his glasses fogged up almost instantly and were currently in the process of going clear again. It meant that Trevor couldn't really tell who asked if the building was going to explode, just that the voice was friendly.

Trevor turned to it and shrugged, shaking his head and rubbing his arms for some heat. "Honestly, probably not. This happens too regularly for that risk. I'd be more surprised if something like this didn't happen."

Sunar was silent for a moment. 

"Oh. I guess you're right." 

He hadn't considered the fact that this was a regular Hammel occurrence, and thus of course the faculty would be prepared for this. It would be costly for the school (or their insurance or the government. He wasn't sure of the specifics of the school's funding) if the buildings were constantly burning down or exploding. He had heard whispered rumors of buildings destroyed by students in the past, but since he'd attended Hammel there had been a structural incident all of once, when a girl had destroyed the walls of her dorm. 

"So...how long do you think we'll be out here? I hope they don't try to teach us in the middle of the snow." 

On the plus side the teachers seemed more invested in making sure students didn't wander off than in trying to continue their lessons. Perhaps they could sense that this was too distracting.
