Cruel and Unusual (Beck)

Sunar propped his chin in his hands, glaring at his math assignment. If only the teacher hadn't requested that he return at the end of the school day, then he could be doing something fun, like turning cartwheels on the training field, or going to the cafeteria for slushies. 

Instead he was stuck here in the classroom, doing extra math work. 

The only upside to this was that one of his classmates, Beck, was also stuck doing math with him, and another teacher had stuck his head in the door and begun chatting away with the math teacher, so that Sunar and Beck were more or less left to their own devices. 

"This is torture! Sunar stabbed at his notebook with a freshly sharpened pencil. "It should be illegal to make anyone do math during the summer!" 

And he looked longingly towards the sun pouring through the classroom window, and the brilliant green of the Hammel landscaping.

Beck wasn't thrilled to still be stuck in math. It was summer, he should've been out playing soccer. But no, he was so far behind that he was left with lessons during the hottest season. It wasn't very thrilling. He sat at his desk just staring at the problems in front of him. He sucked in class enough as it was, did the teacher really want him to suck after school too?

He looked up to the other student in the room, Sunar. At least he wasn't trapped on his own. "I know this is awful..." He rolled his eyes and bounced his pencil off it's eraser on the desk. Beck was going to try and stall as long as possible. He didn't even want to try and do the stupid problems. "Please tell me we won't be here much longer."
