Sun shining, sitting high in the sky, what better way to pass the time than relaxing in the sun? Why, relaxing in the sun with awesome music and food of course. With that in mind Ayla had loaded her iPod up with some amazing music, filled a bag with fruit, chips and sandwiches and headed outside. She hadn’t been up long, but noon was already approaching. Ayla might be full of energy during the day, but waking up was such a chore. She had forced herself out of bed about an hour ago, and after a big breakfast and a shower she suddenly felt much better, ready to go out and rule the day. That said, there wasn’t much ruling to do, she didn’t have anything in particular that needed to be done today.
Of course the teen didn’t mind a day like this. When there was nothing that needed doing there was far more time for relaxing and having fun, something Ayla was planning on doing a lot of in the many hours of daylight that remained. There was a spring in her step as she made her way from the dorms and out into the sunlight. It was a wonderful day, just perfect for wasting away. Had she thought ahead she would have brought a soccer ball or handheld games console out with her for when she inevitably got bored of sitting around. Thinking ahead, though, was not one of Ayla’s strong points.
The small girl’s iPod was already pumping music into her ears. It was all upbeat, cheerful or energetic music, the kind you could dance to. Flicking through the playlist as she made her way to the courtyard, she settled on ‘All Star’ to begin with. Bobbing her head slightly to the music as she walked and humming along quietly, Ayla’s attention stayed focused on the small device in her hand. Her pace quickened somewhat as she got into the swing of things. She was already flipping through her music for the next song, feeling slightly indecisive on what exactly she should listen to, and not trusting the shuffle feature to pick for her just yet.
She stayed this way, walking quickly with her head down, as she rounded the corner into the courtyard, headfirst into someone. They always say look where you’re going, turns out they have good reason to. Ayla stumbled back a short way, surprising herself as much as she must have surprised the whoever-it-was she had just wandered into.
”Oh, sorry, wasn’t looking. You ok?”
