What happened was... Impossible. Indescribable. Lucy felt as if she couldn't breathe. Things were so incredibly twisted - cracked under the weight of the severity of the situation. The argument. The realisation. It was all too much for her.

She abandoned the moment entirely and forced herself into the bedroom, closing the door behind herself and turning to press her back against it. Her breathing was as erratic as her heartbeat. Her hands ran across the sides of her face, fingers getting lost in the dark locks of her hair and curling in. Holding on. She held her eyes shut tight. She tried to breathe again.

The familiar hitch in each singular breath wasn't lost on her. She knew what it meant.
