Halloween Dance!

[Venn Hensley]

Venn was able to find his costume at the last minute. It was a strange costume, but it was more like a part of a mascot suit. It was a bunny's head and a jumper suit get-up. It was amusing to him at first, but he lost excitement for it towards the first hour of just staring at it. Could the bunny head be too big? Who cares, it'll also conceal his identity. He didn't want anyone looking at him as if he were the tallest person in the room, which was possibly going to be true. Standing at 6'3'' he always towered over students, especially Adrianna.

He dressed into his costume and let the bunny head conceal his own head, and headed out towards Adrianna's dorm. It was kind of hard to breath in the thing, but it would've been easier to adapt to once he started dancing in the whole get-up. Adrianna wouldn't have recognized him if it weren't for his height.

As they walked to the dance, they laughed and joked about how funny their costumes were, but he could still feel the negative energy about what the outcome might be by the end of the night. As they entered the auditorium he examined around for Lani, just so he could get at least one punch in, but yet again, he had to think about Adrianna, and how she'd feel about the situation. The fact that he told her he had feelings for her would have totally contradicted him doing that horrible action in the first place.

He blushed inside of the large head as she held onto his hand, and pleaded for him not to do anything.

"Fine, I won't. Let's just have a good night together, okay?" He clenched tight onto her hand, just to reassure that she's his date, and not anyone else's.

[Cameron Osiris]

Cam stepped back from Declyn and gave a low whistle – he was a lot better looking than Cam had remembered. Yep, Dec was definitely on fire tonight and the costume merely added fuel. Cameron wasn’t at all preoccupied about who would and would not be there, and would more likely than not, say hi to everyone he knew, followed by saying hi to everyone he didn’t know.

As Dec turned around, Cam clearly checked out every asset. “You look awesome. I don’t think anyone else could wear a leprechaun outfit and still look hot.” If anyone was attractive in the pair, it was Dec. Cam was all covered up in robes so there wasn’t a real way to tell what was underneath. He latched an arm around Dec’s and off they went to see the wizard[/i]the dance.

Cam was glad there were a few people here already. He didn’t like showing up early or even on time. He was actually glad he had gone to get Declyn instead of waiting here in anticipation. There wasn’t any sign of his dumbass brother and Cam couldn’t wipe the smile off this face. Tonight was gonna be awesome. He waved at Tak and then headed for the punch bowl.

“Want some?” He asked his date, getting himself a cup and sampling it. He coughed a bit and made a sour face. “Wow, that has way more kick than it should,” he said, chuckling to himself and glancing at Dec. It was hard to keep his eyes off his date.

[Odion Martins]

The cruel one of the pair would have to be Odion, however, he liked to think he wasn’t so cruel as to rub the obvious in Lani’s face. Maybe if he had broken up with Adrianna sooner, maybe if the kidnapping hadn’t happened, and maybe if Odion hadn’t fallen for Lani along the way, he would be singing ‘I told you so’. As it was, he didn’t want to rush into anything and was simply curious to see how things would pan out now. Even though it were a possibility, he had no desire to alter the past in any way, shape, or form.

A devilish smirk pulled at Odion’s lips, now pressing up and behind the mask. “Is that so?” He went on. “Hm, looked like you were about to have a panic attack.” Not that he was opposed to the idea of Lani throttling him. But in this story, they weren’t talking about him, they were talking about an annoying redhead and the tall man who was trying to find him. Dark blue orbs settled on Live, who seemed nothing but satisfied at scaring someone, and Odion found it pretty amusing. “That’s her,” he said, nudging Lani a bit, unaware he was already looking, “the one who gave me that shiner.” Odion thought the scene was amusing because of how pathetic Live was, even as a vampire.

Odion scoffed. “You mean, there’s a lot of bad costumes?” People hadn’t really tried that much, and the few that did Odi was willing to give credit to. He was just disappointed with that part of the affair – perhaps his expectations were too high in that regard. He wasn’t disappointed by the company though.

Speak of the devil... Odion had noted from his peripheral vision someone who looked exactly like Adrianna walk into the dance. He didn’t pay her any mind, it wasn’t like they were close friends. Odion rolled his eyes at the drink comment, his arm relaxing so the cape morphed around him. “You obviously don’t know me very well,” he suggested, since the flask was indeed full, and Odion was a greedy boy. Still, he had enough for the both of them.

But his thoughts went back to Adrianna, and how she’d finally caught sight of Lani. He had thought she was a sweet, albeit stupid, girl, and hopefully no more drama would happen tonight. He didn’t draw Lani’s attention to the fact that she was with Venn, actually, he didn’t draw attention to the new couple at all. It was perhaps the sweetest thing Odi had ever done. Putting on someone’s shoes was harder than he wanted to admit, but this was the best thing he could do for Lani. That, and be there for his friend if and when he noticed all on his own. Adrianna seemed to be restraining her date though, making Odion’s fists clench while the rest of him remained relaxed. If Venn decided to pick a fight, he would quickly find himself out matched by two tricksters.

Odion laughed in spite of himself. “Pay? I wouldn’t miss this for...” he said, his words drifting off. His eyes turned nearly to rage as he spotted his so called brother, and his insufferable date. “Yeah, there he is,” Odion said as Cameron Osiris made his way to the punch bowl. “And what in God’s name is he wearing?” His jaw clenched and he shook his head in disappointment. His brother was a floozy, especially for associating with the likes of that blonde. Odion held his ground, though the sudden discomfort he felt was making him want to flee. Between his brother and Lani’s ex, this wasn’t going to be a smooth night.

[Adrianna Carstyn]

Once she looked closer, Adrianna knew that her previous thoughts had been correct. Odion. And he was looking at her. She bit down on her lip and looked away from him, the guilt pressing down on her more. Did he know what had happened? Surely he would by now, after all, him and Lani were such good friends. Why wouldn’t Lani mention it to Odion? The idea of Odion hating her had her feeling even worse and she just wanted to vanish. This was going to be such an awful night if something happened between Venn and Lani. She was positive if Venn went after her ex that Odion would instantly step in. The very idea of all of them fighting had the knot in her stomach tightening.

Venn’s hand tightened around hers and she gave him a half smile. It wasn’t much, but as long as they could all just steer clear of each other for a while, maybe things would be fun tonight. Adrian couldn’t help but hope for a night without drama. A night where she could have fun with her best frienddate. The guilt would continue to leave a knot in her stomach, but maybe as the night went on the knot would shrink and she could find a way to ignore it. All she wanted was one night.

“Thank you,” She said quietly as she laced her fingers through his. Taking comfort from his presence, she began to lead Venn away from the entrance, away from the punch bowl and towards the dance floor. Adrianna was trying to put as much distance between Venn and Lani as possible. If she could keep them away from each other, she could possibly relax. Odion would be able to keep Lani plenty occupied she was sure, in what ways she didn’t want to know. Her arm snaked around Venn’s neck and she snorted, “Ya’know I love your costume and all, but it makes this whole dancing thing a little awkward.”

A teasing smile pulled up the corners of her mouth and she guided his hands to her hips as the music played, filling the auditorium with the pounding bass. Thanks in large part to her lessons, she was doing fairly well maneuvering around the giant bunny head, but part of her wished he’d take it off just so she could see him.

[Thyme Ersilia]

Halloween was always a fun holiday for Ty. He loved a good prank, and it seemed this was the time of year when tricks were at their prime. Not to mention all the free candy! He was not really into the parties at Hammel, but he enjoyed seeing the mischief that went on behind the scenes. That, or maybe someone had snuck alcohol in and would share with him.

Thyme had felt a bit lonely since Sage graduated from Hammel and went on to college. He was lucky to be able to leave this place, and even though Ty only had a year left, he doubted he would be able to go right away with how his power control was going. Things seemed to be getting a little better, but he wasn’t showing significant improvement yet, and he was worried that at some point in the future, he might lose control and hurt either himself or someone else. Hopefully, that wouldn’t happen. If he kept taking what he learned from Raphael and weaned off the electricity surging through him every once in a while, he’d be less likely to blow, right?

The blond looked around the auditorium and observed everyone’s costumes. He was impressed with some, and others were only marginal. He didn’t think much of his own outfit, the superhero Thor, but he thought it suited him. Besides, if anyone got on his nerves, he could hit them over the head with his mighty hammer.

As the music blared and everyone seemed drawn into their dancing or other dramas, Thyme took a sip of his punch and pondered a small, harmless but annoying prank. He smirked to himself and soon enough, sparks shot from his hand while no one was looking and the room fell silent and went dark.

[Sayaka Ito]

Sayaka certainly was not at all used to being the one to cause a disturbance, but she had caused one in this case. And that was why she was so awkward right then, she was so unsure of just what it was she should try to do. What she should say. So she simply left it at what she had said and hoped that the other girl would reply to her. If she didn't...well, this night would certainly be getting even more awkward. At least the vampire hadn't chased after her; Sayaka gave a glance in that woman's direction before quickly turning her attention to the other girl before her, Kota.

At least this girl certainly wasn't a vampire; she was dressed up like a fairy. And Sayaka had to admit she was pretty. Her hair seemed to be blonde, but at the same time, it was so light that it appeared to almost be white. Huh...what an odd hair color. Sayaka much preferred her own hair color to it. Then, the girl finally spoke up, causing the young Japanese girl to be just a little surprised. "Huh?" she replied, a frown on her face. Who asked that? It wasn't this girl's fault that she had been ran into. "I think I should be the one asking that...I ran into you, after all," Sayaka spoke, trying to keep the conversation going by adding in a small smile.

She really wasn't sure just how well she was doing on that front, though; the girl seemed to be fidgeting, looking around everywhere. Sayaka...didn't really blame her. There were too many people, and the young girl was really beginning to wonder what she was thinking by even trying to sign-up for the dance. Who would want to dance with a kid like her? "You're real pretty." she abruptly decided to say, unsure of just WHY she said it. Usually she just kept such observations to herself, but for whatever reason, she did not this time.

Of course, it was then that the room went utterly dark, causing Sayaka to let out a small sound of surprise before moving just a bit closer to Kota. The young girl just wanted to make sure the other was still there, she didn't want to be alone.

[Lani Hunter]

“Yep,” Lani answered with a nod and smirked a little when Odion stated his observations. “You’re that’s what you saw?” He asked giving Odion a narrowed eyed look. Lani glanced down at Odion and followed his gaze back to the vampire again. Well, he had taken a rather sudden dislike to her and now he had even more of a reason. But hey, he didn’t know her well at all, he didn’t even know her name. He normally wouldn’t take a dislike to someone he didn’t actually know but he tended to make exceptions for his friends. “Really? You got clocked by a vampire?” He asked as a joke then added more seriously, “We should be sure to avoid her, but first.”

That sly look crossed his face and his power reached out. Lani never had a good time focusing on the external world and on his power, he was still working on it so to be careful Lani let himself turn inward to work. His power grabbed the vampire’s cape, making it fly like it was caught in the wind and it swirled around her and when Lani was finally done with it it was wrapped around her like a burrito. The whole time Lani wasn’t looking at her or at anything really he was looking in the direction of Odion but he didn’t see him as his mind was focused on playing the trick and not hurting anyone. He blinked and the sharp focused look fell from his eyes and the sly expression returned as he turned to survey his handiwork.

Lani grinned and nodded a little in agreement. “I’d say interesting, but bad works too.” Odion hid the flask again and Lani felt the little twinge of the increased headache from working with his power. It was getting better, not quite so raw, but then perhaps it was because he was getting used to being in pain, he wasn’t sure. “What you weren’t planning on sharing?” Lani teased. He chuckled a little and his eyes drifted toward the door when he felt a familiar tug on his power. His heart raced then dropped. Adrianna and presumably Venn. What on earth was Venn wearing? Lani’s jaw clenched and he sent daggers in Venn’s direction. Then Venn took her hand. They weren’t dating anymore, it shouldn’t matter. But that still hit like a blow. Odion’s laughter called him back to V.

Lani smiled but Odion never finished his sentence. He was also looking toward the door. Lani’s eyes followed and he did a quick double take. At quick glance Lani would have said that was Odion in the darkness but upon closer examination there were differences. The hair color for one, but in the dark that was hard to tell. Lani laughed at Odion’s completely unhappy look and shook his head at his friend. “Why didn’t you come as a leprechaun?” He asked a teasing note to his voice. It didn’t take a genius to realize that Odion was not impressed or very approving of his brother’s choice of clothing and perhaps his date. But Lani couldn’t really understand why? Why didn’t Odion like the wizard man? “Oh come on, it’s not that bad.” Lani said with a smile.

The gray eyes drifted to the dance floor where Adrianna would most likely be. “Geez,” Lani said starting to run a hand through his hair then realizing it was thick with paint. Lani sighed and shook his head. “No, it doesn’t matter,” he muttered aloud to himself then turned to Odion, “We broke up,” he explained, neither happy about that nor necessarily devastated. Lani had no reason to dislike Venn, he had just been rather careful recently to avoid him. The warning from Adrianna had come in rather handy. Lani tore his eyes away from Adrianna’s dancing and his roommate obnoxious helmet. It was then he noticed Sparky. Now Lani knew that wasn’t his name but since he had never gotten an introduction the kid would always be Sparky to him. He felt a little sick for the kid hadn’t been around for a long time, at least not since he had punched him for sitting on Cassidy and he missed that little girl dearly. He shook his head that was a blast from the not too distant past. It just renewed how much he missed Cassie. That poor little girl, what was she doing now?

Lost in his thoughts Lani jumped a little as the lights went out and the pounding music ceased leaving his ears ringing a little from the sudden lack of noise. His eyes cut through the darkness and when that failed he let his power out it poked around painting him a mental picture of the room. It floated around Odion then moved on identifying Adrianna and the bunny headed Venn. He wanted to make sure he kept that man on his radar. “Well, this is fun,” Lani said dryly into the silence.

Halloween. Elina had never thought it to be very special. The fact that she could not see all the awesome costumes might have contributed to that, along with the lack of participation from her parents in the past. Yet, the girl had signed up to attend the Halloween party which had been organized for Hammel students. She even took the risk of being matched with someone… and she sort of regretted it at this point. Kouji sounded so… Asian. After an unpleasant situation in the past with a foreign person, she had developed a little bit of racism, so it didn’t exactly make her eager to be the date of this guy.

Ellie didn’t wait for him to pick her up at her room either. Surely he could find her amongst the crowd. After all, she was pretty convinced everyone knew who she was anyway. Her vainness easily encouraging that thought. Besides, she didn’t want to come across as depending on a boy. She could take care of herself, thank you very much. So Ellie ended up entering the auditorium by herself. Her first reaction was the adjust her hearing, knowing she would end up with an awful headache if she did not. Tonight, however, would offer the perfect opportunity to eavesdrop. For now her power was only applied to figure out who was there already.

The first voice which stood out was Tak’s, which brought a little smile to her lips. And then Richard’s, making a small frown appear upon realizing that their tones of voices held some flirting. It shouldn’t surprise her though… and it tempted her to follow the conversation while waiting. In the meanwhile hands smoothed the skirt of her feminine Robin Hood costume.

[Venn Hensley]

He smiled under his mask whilst she stated how awkward the bunny helmet was. He interrupted their dance for a short second, and took off the helmet, showing his face, he got a better breath after everything. The cold air was rushing towards his face after he took the head off. He placed it onto the floor next to them, and smiled down at her, moving his hands back onto her hips, and danced with her.

"You look gorgeous! I'm loving the whole Willy Wonka costume." He stated as he chuckled and rocked around with her, he followed her steps mostly because she was a good dancer, it was what she did. Danced. As they danced towards the music, he pulled back, and took one of her hands with one of his, and twirled her around, like they did in the movies. He bit his lips as she smiled and danced with him, he was happy to be in this position, and not be the one watching her dance, like he used to.

She was his now, well not really, but he liked the idea of it. As long as she was fine with it; the large brute grabbed onto her top hat, and put it on his head. He winked at her as they danced, and looked down into her eyes. Thoughts of Lani were running through his head, but he tried to ignore them and have a good time. That's what she wanted, and that's what would have been best at the moment.

[Adrianna Carstyn]

To say that Adrianna wasn’t using her own power to keep an eye on her ex would be a lie. She knew the differences between him and any other telekinetic that happened to be there. Lani’s power was the crazy mind-of-its-own one. She’d be able to tell it apart from anyone in a matter of seconds, just like with Venn. It came in handy when she was trying to keep the two of them apart. She could feel the slight probing of it around her and she did her best to ignore it. He’d noticed her, there was no doubt in her mind and surely he was going to be a little irked that she was with Venn.

But they weren’t together. It shouldn’t matter. It was what they’d both wanted.

Of course that was how it should be. But it wasn’t necessarily like that. Seeing the way Lani and Odion were interacting had Adrian feeling a teensy bit jealous, but she’d never admit to such a thing. The only reason she felt jealous was because of the possibility that Lani could move on to Odion. Not that it should matter to her who he moves on to, but after all that had happened with Rhett, it didn’t help her feel much better. Then again, she was doing the same thing. Lani may have moved onto his best friend, but wasn’t that what she was doing? Her jealousy couldn’t be justified, and she wasn’t going to try to justify it.

Once he removed the bunny head, she was quite happy. She got to look into his eyes and see his smile, not the creepy bunny smile that would give her nightmares. She got to see her Venny and it made her smile. His compliment only made that smile grow wider and she blushed, “I told you it was awesome. But thank you, I tried to make it look more like a sexy, feminine Willy Wonky so I guess it’s a good thing it worked out for me.” She laughed and placed her other arm around his neck causing her body to move closer to his. Unintentionally of course (wink wink).

Giggling as he put on her bright purple top hat, she snorted and twirled around. “Did you take dance lessons or something when you were gone? I don’t remember you being this good!” She laughed and swayed her hips with the music not really doing any complex steps. It was a high school dance, no use for showing off…too much at least.

[Odion Martins]

Odion didn’t hate Adrianna, he was actually rather indifferent about her. He knew that she and Lani wouldn’t last, not as lovers. He had been right along, but he didn’t need to say anything about it, he was pretty sure they could see it with their own eyes.

Exceptions had been made before, and Odion already knew that Lani was the most loyal friend he had ever known. Odi smirked at his comrade, shaking his head. “A witch costume would’ve suited her better.” At first Odion wondered why Lani was just staring at him, but it didn’t take long for Odi to catch the hint. Watching with interest as Live became a human burrito, Odion smiled broadly and let out a couple soft bits of laughter. Odi let his head fall to the side a little bit, still grinning like an idiot. This was a form of revenge he hadn’t anticipated. “I think she looks better that way,” he said, complimenting Lani on his handiwork.

A sly smirk propped itself on Odi’s face. “I had more than that planned,” he said mysteriously. Lani hadn’t noticed the gift, had he? That was probably for the best, and Odion blamed Lani’s lack of attention to detail on the fact that he’d just used his powers. Odion had hoped Lani wouldn’t have noticed the new couple walk in, but perhaps that was just another hope he had set too high.

Odion glared at Lani, one finger tapping against his empty cup while the other hand twitched towards his flask. “Not that bad? Are you joking?” He asked, his accent strong and heavy as his eyes turned back to Dec. “I wouldn’t be caught dead in that costume.” Did Declyn think he was a model now too? Odion knew he was into photography, but he didn’t think Dec wanted to also be the subject. Although Odi had to wonder if Lani liked it so much because it showed off Declyn’s arms, and since Lani was associating Dec with him... Odion smiled at his own thoughts.

Nodding once, Odion finally openly looked at Adrianna and Venn on the dance floor. “It can’t be easy,” he said, not looking at Lani. Odion knew what it felt like to lose someone you cared deeply about. Watching Adrianna now would be complete torture for Lani, Odi just thought Adrianna wouldn’t have shown up, especially with Venn. Odion watched Lani from the corner of his eye. All Lani had to do was say the word and they could leave.

Odion watched Lani fidget and squirm and he actually felt something like a giant weight in the pit of his stomach. Odi felt really bad for Lani, and him breaking up with Adrianna wasn’t as satisfying as he thought it would be once it happened. “Hurting him won’t make you feel better,” he said, thinking maybe inviting Lani out hadn’t been the best idea and... Odi reached for the little present he’d brought with him. It was oblong and flat, and as big as the hand that extended towards Lani. Was this the distraction he needed? “I thought we could watch this some time,” he said, a burnt copy of ‘Back to the Future’ would now be in Lani’s possession. Odion managed his best smile considering the nerves he was feeling. “I’m getting more water,” he announced, unwilling to wait around and see what Lani’s reaction would be – the redhead was too nervous.

[Mia Bell]

Mia was getting ready for the Halloween dance. She had signed up for the matchmaker thing the school was doing, thanks to Noah talking her into it. The one thing she hadn’t counted on was Noah signing up for it also; she figured he would have had a date for it and didn’t think he would have needed the school’s help to get one. But she was grateful he had signed up, because it made her the happiest girl on the planet when she found out she had been matched with the blonde. She grinned and did a 360 degree spin in excitement; if there had been a chance of rain today it wasn’t going to rain now.

Mia finished putting on her costume; all she had to do now was her hair and makeup. She walked into the bathroom and put her hair back with bobby pins, leaving a few locks of hair down to frame her face; it would look perfect with the hat on. She put on eyeliner and gold eye shadow that went great with the gold in her outfit. After doing her hair and makeup she put her hat on and did poses in the bathroom to make sure she looked good; that and because she was too excited to stand still.

The pink haired girl walked out of the bathroom and rested her butt against the back of the sofa watching the door, waiting for her date as she put her boots on.

[Kouji Yajima]

Kouji strolled into the auditorium, not exactly sure what he had gotten himself into. Parties were always fun, but he had been talked into signing up to be set up for a date for this one, although he wasn’t particularly interested in it. Elina seemed nice… at least he thought. To be honest, he didn’t know much about the girl. Kouji was told to meet her in the auditorium instead of picking her up at her dorm, which he thought was a bit strange, but didn’t fight against it. He just assumed it was normal to show up to a party with your date instead of meeting them at it, but then again, Kouji didn’t date… ever.

He also wasn’t really told what his date would be wearing, so he wasn’t able to match, but he decided to be a knight of some sort, mostly just so he could carry around a sword and hit people with it (not hard enough to hurt them, but he was hoping someone would pretend to lose some limbs…)

He searched through the crowd, apparently getting there a little late because the auditorium was already bustling with students. Luckily, he wasn’t going into the date without knowing what Elina looked like, and he was able to find her. He gave a warm smile walked up to her. “Hey there.” Kouji said, “I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long.”

[Adam Moore]

Adam may have been a bit late to the festivities, but that tended to happen when a man decided to dress as Harley Quinn. It had taken much more preparation than he had initially thought. But it was necessary. Given it was Devi’s idea. And since this was their first date, he couldn’t exactly say no.

Yep, that’s right. Adam Moore was on a date. An actual date. And not sitting at his house playing video games like they’d been doing a lot lately. But the couple costume had been an idea they reached together. But it had been her idea to gender swap them too. It’d been a pain to find a Harley costume that didn’t cling in all the worst places. But he’d managed too.

“Ya’ know, if I get in trouble with staff for this, I’m definitely blaming you. Throwing you under the bus.” He as he walked in with Devi, second guessing himself as he once again picked a wedgie. It may not cling where he didn’t want it to, but it still rode up in other places. “You’re gonna have to go to Sean’s office. Ha ha ha ha!” Adam teased in a sing-song voice.

[Chase Campbell]

Chase suspected that his powers had something to do with the fact that he was more often than not called upon to chaperone school events. At least the Halloween dance was more fun than most of the events (he could more or less recite the vast majority of Sean’s annual sex ed lecture by this point).

What was better, the teachers were permitted to dress up too, and Chase had had fun this year. He’d enlisted Nikki’s help to draw and press on temporary tattoos up his arms, and he’d sought out his costume online. He’d been inspired after watching a soccer game with James and taking note of his apparent interest in one of the key players.

Yes, he’d gotten himself a short-sleeved David Beckham soccer kit. Nikki seemed to have had a great time helping him tattoo himself, and while he knew James wouldn’t be a fan of them as they came off in the shower later, he’d probably enjoy the process of helping remove them.

As usual, he was skirting the outside of the dance floor, keeping a wary eye out for trouble makers. But so far, everyone seemed to be behaving themselves. That meant he could be the tiniest bit less vigilant in favor of spending a moment looking at his husband. When James had first proposed going as Aragorn, of all things, Chase had been skeptical. But James pulled it off well, and he had to admit, his husband was hot. ... Well, he was always hot. This was unexpectedly hot.

But something caught his attention. The familiar brush of telepathy, though he could tell it wasn’t Sean. Apparently someone had managed to spike the punch already. Sigh. He gave James a pained look. “Someone spiked the punch,” he grumbled, and set off in search of the guilty party. He had a vague description of the costume, which proved to be enough in the end.
