profile He's an approachable guy really, the kind you feel comfortable around like there's no pressure to be anything than who you are. His jokes are childish and he's a perpetual stick in the mud when it comes to anything fun, but he's a hard worker and a good friend. Friends Devyn seems to have a carefree and easygoing attitude about him, so naturally people gravitate towards him. At first only those truly persistent (Sunar) kinds of people really stuck around, but his closest friend and roommate has managed to crack a bit of the front he puts up. *Sunar Chugani (of course), the two hit it off phenomenally from the get go. Sunar's the kind of guy who doesn't let Devyn retreat to his study hole and let life pass him by, which is something he really needed. *Amber Ignis, it might be a bit early as they met rather by chance, but he thinks she's a pretty cool person. Plus, she plays guitar really well. *Bunny Bonneville, perhaps another early call, but she can bake and he likes her baking so he really doesn't know how that could fail. Rivals Devyn isn't a very hateful person, though he can become jealous very easy of others' natural talents. Most of his rivalry, or unfriendly relationships, stem from his competitive nature more than any kind of actual dislike, which while rare can still happen. Romantic A category that would require a lot of patience to fall under. Devyn is very uncomfortable with his sexuality currently and has yet to even confide the fact that he is gay to anyone.

profile Shay has been here a while, he grew up in Pilot Ridge after all. His father attended Hammel and so did he, it's safe to say those in the area have at least seen the Talbot name around town. That's without each siblings own personal pocket of fame. Shay's come from horror stories of his lack of control at the beginning of his Hammel days and his rule breaking (of all kinds) at the later leg of his high school career. It's a safe bet that he's up to no good at almost every occasion and is always down for misbehaving. Friends Those who can call themselves this (without also falling under the lover category) are few and far between. Shay doesn't make a habit of surrounding himself with people, he prefers a few strong spices (friends) to litany of flavors. It might also be attributed to his almost unnerving ability to uncover how to tick someone off within a short period of meeting. So those that manage to stick around have a good enough humor to laugh at themselves and see past the teasing to see it isn't meant to be cruel. Enemies Of these there are sure to be many. Shay is very good at figuring out what pisses people off and true to his role as a younger brother he will pick at what doesn't need to be picked. Love Shay isn't interested in a truly monogamic relationship at the moment, but this is not to say he doesn't take this kind of relationship seriously. He isn't the type to have one night stands, and rarely sleeps with anyone on their first meeting. Even if the relationship ceases to be sexual he likes to maintain a friendship with those that fall under this category..

profile Grayson's a dick and has very few redeeming qualities to make up for it. He likes to be in people's business and to be in the know of every bit of drama that happens. Usually, if his name is involved it means absolutely nothing good. Though, because of this he maintains a strong status as an information hub and people will typically begrudgingly go to him for details on the goings-on around town. Friends There's not going to be a lot of these for the sheer fact that Grayson makes it very hard to be found as likable (unless he needs you and then he's all charm). Currently, he can count his friends on one hand: Kodi, Oriel, Charlie, and maybe that little brat Gene. Typically, what he considers to be worthy of his time is the ability to hold one's own against him and to adhere in some way to the things he considers 'fun'. *Kodiak Oubre: They began attending Hammel around the same time. Grayson latched onto him early on due to his innocent nature and Gray enjoyed the way the boy idolized him. Presently, they still maintain a pseudo-friendship supplemented with plenty of bedroom activities. *Oriel Vanguard: They met each other through Kodi, and 'hit it off' from the start. They constantly bickered and even fought each other in the early years. It could only be described as a hate-love-screw kind of relationship. Nowadays he tends to begrudgingly forgive his existence and continues to hang around him for whatever reason. *Charlie Soh: He says they're friends even if Charlie doesn't and he can kiss his ass if he doesn't like it. *Eugene Whitaker: This one is still a bet meh, he thinks he's funny and is glad he likes to antagonize Kodi as much as he does. But holy hell he is such a little brat Enemies Oh god yes. He's pretty sure most everyone he went to school with hates his guts and he does not care in the slightest. In fact, he tends to antagonize them specifically by approaching or making faces at them whenever he sees them. Hookups Gray gets around pretty easily and often though he tends to pick favorites and cycle between those he is not opposed to stumbling upon his partners at parties. *Kodiak Oubre *Osiris Jackson

Welcome to Hammel! I've been waiting for Devyn to get accepted

Allow me to introduce you to Jake. (Link to profile in signature.) I think he and Devyn might butt heads a little bit, because unlike Devyn who acts easygoing but is in fact fairly high-strung, Jake actually is a very relaxed person. He doesn't take school as seriously as Devyn does (indeed, he's barely passing his math class), but then again he's quite athletically gifted - so he and Devyn could either become rivals/adversaries of sorts, or maybe they have something to offer one another. Along that same vein, I understand Devyn isn't a good writer, and Jake does a lot of writing, so that's another option for how they might bond (or the opposite).

It might also be worth mentioning that Jake is bi-curious and has only very rarely (and recently) acted on those urges. I understand Devyn is gay but very much in the closet. So maybe something could develop there, over a period of time (since it seems like neither of our characters is interested in rushing into anything).

Speaking of writing, I should also say that my other character, Julia Taylor, is one of Hammel's English teachers. So she could help him with that. Alternatively, while she has social anxiety, this generally doesn't extend to her students, so she could act as a sort of mentor to him. She's very driven, so knows what it's like to have high standards for one's self.

I have one character to offer to you, Doctor Sean Neville, who is the school psychiatrist and somewhat of an institution at Hammel IC due to having been there for twenty-five years. I see that you are looking for a potential mentor for Devyn, and Sean is good at that. He likes helping students, he's available most of the time, he's a good listener, and is even better at giving advice. Also, he's bisexual, has been in a relationship with his male partner for four years, and he grew up Catholic in the 1970s, so he knows how the closet works, and would want to help Devyn to sort through all of that.

Hiya Jack! Welcome to Hammel!
I have a few plot ideas I’d like to toss at you. Let me know what you think! ^^

Danny – This is my newest baby. He’s a bit older than Devyn, but I noticed that Dev likes to go to the gym. So does Danny, which could be a place where they know each other. Danny typically gets along with everyone, but he’s incredibly socially inept and inability to empathize can sometimes put people off. Idk how Devyn would react to a person like that.

Victor – This is my 2nd newest baby, and one in the greatest need of threads and plots at the moment. You mentioned wanting a mentor or ish for Devyn, and Victor could likely fill that role in a more friendly sense, as he is not a teacher and has no other connection to Devy outside of, again, possibly meeting at the gym. Victor goes there for light cardio and general wellness weight lifting, though an idea I had of how they could meet is that Victor gets in a little over his head in his workout and Dev is there to help him out? Maybe, possibly.

Jackson – This is my baby who is currently the biggest muse hog. He’s very similar to Devyn in that he pushes himself to high academic standards and puts on a front of general friendliness and helpfulness so that people will like him. Unlike Devyn, he’s not a very likable character underneath, instead being quite bitter and judgmental of others. Recent changes in his life has made his true self more likely to slip lately too, as keeping up the act has been wearing on him. Also like Devyn, he is very deep in the closet on his super-gey-ness, right down to outright denial and having a girlfriend as a front to hide it. Jackson is on the basketball team with Jacob(who also posted ^up there), so there’s that as a possible connection. He’s particularly competitive too. I think these two would either get along very well, or terribly and either works for me, honestly!

First, was that a clown emote. Second, WHY DOES THAT EXIST.

I love the idea of having them buttheads, rival relationships are so fun to me. Maybe one or the other could be asked to help the other with a class. Like Dev help Jake with math, or Dev being forced by staff into asking for help on a paper because of how poorly he'd made.

Probably from there they could form a begrudging friendship and possibly get closer as they work together and maybe get close enough to talk about their sexualities or their problems with them.

but yeah...



Julia-
I feel like as a teacher she would be very concerned for Devyn's atrocious writing skills (he has no skills), and could request that he set up times for her to tutor him. It's likely through these sessions she could pick up on how stressed and hard on himself he is and maybe see some of herself in those traits?

Sean-

I think it'd be really cool to set up a thread for Sean and Devyn! Especially considering how hard Devyn is on himself about school and just about everything else. It'd be really nice for him to be able to interact with an authority figure that is both respected and understanding of situations.

In short yes I'd be very interested in starting a thread whenever you're free to!

Danny, Victor, Jackson-

I'm open for anything you want to do here they all seem like they'd work pretty well.

For Danny and Victor they could have bumped into each other frequently at the gym and that's how they initially met and started chattng. From there Devyn and Danny could have formed a slight friendship over both being metas before getting to know each other better.

Victor could potentially be a good advice giver in his life. Someone he could talk to when he gets overwhelmed with life and just needs some grounding advice from someone who has been there done that.

For Jackson it could be fun to have them compete academically, I feel like Devyn would easily develop a rivalry against him seeing as how his personality is one he typically dislikes. Maybe they'd run into each other more if Devyn and Jacob become friends and force them to get along in certain situations.

I like your ideas! Julia would be very concerned if Devyn wasn't progressing with his writing. So maybe after meeting with him, she's the one who decides Jacob could help guide him by example. Jacob probably wouldn't love the idea of helping someone at first, since he has enough to worry about, which could add some nice tension to a thread. Perhaps they arrange a quid-pro-quo in which Jacob helps Devyn write and Devyn helps him study math.

Ah... we could set it up like they've already talked to Julia and are maybe meeting up for their first tutor session. Since Jacob is a bit tense/upset about being thrown into the situation it would probably start off very rocky with a few insults thrown in.

I like the idea that Devyn and Danny already sort of know each other, even if only from the gym and nothing more. They can spot each other lifting weights. Danny struggles with casual conversation, as in he has the tendency to just shove facts and information at people and call it ‘conversation’. If Devyn’s cool with that, then it would probably work well. The meta thing would definitely be a thing to bond over.

With Devyn and Victor, I really like the idea that he could be an older figure to offer life advice to Devyn when he really needs it. For this, I really do want to try a first meeting type thread, unless you have ideas for otherwise? I’m open to anything.

I love the idea of Jackson having an academic rival! His grades have actually been slipping a little lately, so it would do him good to have that kind of fire lit underneath him, if just to start taking school more seriously(he sees school as a means to an end, not a place to actually learn and improve). An interesting tidbit, Jackson is actually Jake’s ‘tutor’, in that he does his (math) homework for him in exchange for ‘things’(oh ho ho ho ho ho!). This could definitely weave into a bigger plotline if we wanted it to.

Devyn's a pretty patient guy when he's not stressed or overwhelmed so I think he and Danny would get along fine. Plus he'd probably be interested in whatever facts he ends up spouting.

Yeah, I think a first meeting with Victor would be best as well. Maybe like you said Devyn sees him struggling and the gym and is like 'you need help?' and Devyn helps him around the gym maybe?

And yes, that could be really fun to see where that plot line goes for them! Maybe Jackson could catch wind that he was being outperformed in certain classes or something like that (Devyn is much better in things like math and physics but he struggles in classes like English or art)
Like I said before Devyn wouldn't be too fond of Jackson's personality and would probably be a bit show-offy with his grades. A bit of grade school level teasing but thats enough to annoy anyone i'm sure.

Like I said, I can only really handle one or two, so for the moment, Victor sounds like a good one to start, and I can start that one because it makes more sense that way. If you wanted to start one for either Jackson or Danny, then I'm cool with that. :3 I'm a bit of a slow poster, though, so it might not be until the weekend that I get to anything. v.v;
